I find the aiming a bit unstable and sloppy. I feel like the controller stick reacts way too fast for certain movements during a 1vs1 fight for example. It twitchs out too fast and feels unprecise.
But I generally like a bit slower movement so there is that. In Halo 5 for example my settings are
Look Acceleration 3
Horizontal and Vertical Look Sensitivity 1.5
Is it possible to recreate the aiming in Infinite just like in the older games? Never had problems with aiming in all the other Halo games before.
I made the following during the flights it to feel like old Halo games and when i play Infinite it feels buttery smooth like Destiny. So maybe this will help, below is the name of the thread and the link below that:
Need help aiming in Infinite? (if it feels off to you try this set up for controllers)
Infinite really does suffer from a bad case of horrible default controls. If you read through my post and further comments i offer more advice and so do others.
I’m guessing you mean where you’re trying to follow a target but instead of staying on target you’re way overshooting? That’s just the way the game is designed and the only thing you can really do is get used to it, there are no settings that make it good.
Best you can do is set deadzones to the smallest possible before your sticks start to drift and set acceleration to max so it imo feels less inconsistent. But there is no way to make it feel like the older games because making the aiming feel terrible by design is 343’s way of introducing a “skillgap” into the game.
Acceleration to 5 - and then Sensitivity to what works better for you.
And don’t forget to adjust the Sensitivity for each zoom level on your scope. It can make a huge difference to your Sniping skills (or lack thereof).
There is a YouTuber called AboveAverageCody - and he’s done some great breakdowns of controller set ups.
Something along the lines of;
Centre dead zones as low as you can without getting stick drift.
Maximise the left/move stick for quick strafing; max threshold (how quickly it registers max input) to 15 and the axial dead zone to zero.
Set the right/look stick for fine control over your aiming. Set the max threshold to 0 and the axial dead zone to 12.
The videos go deeper into stuff for response profiles on Elite controllers as well.
