Are they ever going to provide that elusive nugget of information that explains why the Oracle on High Charity referred to humanity as his “makers”? Are we supposed to infer that this statement amounted to a brain fart from a damaged AI or is there something else at play?
Theres alot of evidence that Bungie intended ancient humans to be the forerunners at the time of harvests release, maybe thats why?
btw i have yet to read the re-release so they may have tweaked the story to fit better with current lore.

I suspect that’s true but now that it’s not the case it’d be nice to receive some closure on that front. Most descriptions (in wikis or plot summaries and the like) that recount the encounter between the Prophets and the Oracle say that it revealed that humanity was to inherit the Forerunner legacy and site that as the reason for Truth’s decision to eradicate humanity. However they completely ignore the fact that, in the book, the Oracle outright declared that reclaimers were its makers and thereby implied that the Covenant’s belief in the Great Journey is false as living Forerunners would indicate such an event never occurred in the way the Covenant had interpreted it. The real world explanation for the inconsistency is apparent but an in-universe explanation would be nice.
