One of the things that bothers me about Halo 4 and even Reach is that there isn’t much that is difficult to unlock that is very prominent and noticeable. Example 1: Recon. In Halo 3 Recon was a big deal to get and now all of the sudden it can almost be considered a default helmet. Recon should stay the helmet to get to people. And instead of just getting an insignificant emblem for doing something such as the entire campaign LASO it should be an armor configuration that people would want to earn. This is all just one idea I had that I think would improve future Halo titles.
I don’t even see why Recon was a big deal, I think Haunted and Protector DRFT are things to strive for
343 needs to make a -Yoink- armor that only they give out just like Recon in H3… before ODST came out and ruined it.
> 343 needs to make a Yoink! armor that only they give out just like Recon in H3… before ODST came out and ruined it.
We all know how this turned out last time.
“Give me 1600 points and I’ll get you Recon.”
“If you change your gamertag to X, you’ll instantly get Recon.”
“Give me your personal infomation, I’ll add Recon to your account.”
All exclusive armour does it encourage people to be jerks and do stuff like the above, which is exactly what happened throughout all of Halo 3.
Exclusive armours for doing challenging things would be cool.
Right now some of the rewards for mastering the commendations are pretty lame.
“Ooh, I got an armour skin… too bad I’ll never use it because it’s not on an armour I like, and even if they were universally applicable to all armours, they’re hardly noticeable anyways!”.
We need better rewards for future Halo games.

True, but I miss having something to work for. I hate the fact that the innocent get punished and limited in what they can do because of the jerks that are out there.
I’m not one for armor only they give out, but there does need to be some form of hard-to-unlock armor out there, and for the love of all thigns good, not via commendations.
I hate grinding for pointless commendations just to get a suit of armor. Things like campaign exploration, finding easter eggs and skulls, getting an overkill or a killionair or really anything of the sort are what should be rewarded. Things that are cool or difficult to do.
Heck, I’d be up for some sort of armor that you found in the campaign on a mission. Hidden of course, but unlocked once you found it.
It would at least be better (in my opinion) than commendation unlocked armor.

Because no one likes the haunted helmet.

Instead of skulls, pieces of armour!
Actually both.

Well the actions of a few should not affect everyone that wants exclusivity in armor pieces.
I personally do miss more opportunities to obtain more exclusive content, especially “Haunted” was something that was really awesome that I would like to see return.

Agreed entirely, it does suck that some people ruin the fun for others, but that’s the way it is sadly
I’d love to see something that is common knowledge to unlock, but isn’t easy, something hidden in the Campaign would be sweet.

While I see your point, it’s what has to happen really
There were probably more people out there that got tricked into doing something for Recon in a malicious way, than people who actually got Recon from Bungie (before it was handed out via Vidmasters and then to everyone by 343i.)
I mean, the Vidmasters were a cool idea and unlocking some sort of armour like that is something that needs to return.

That’s honestly a really good idea.
The hardest skull to find should be placed inside a helmet (also one of the hardest pieces of armor to find) just for the epic rewarding feeling that would get. Would be a really great way to combine searchable items.
Heck, weapon skins on map would be neat too. Find a secret Halo 2 BR (with only cosemtic changes) in the campaign that is then unlocked for multiplayer? Awesome.

Huh?
If they do go and make a piece of armour hard to get again, they should go with the Vidmaster Challenge route Bungie took with Halo 3 + ODST to get Recon. Give us some very hard challenges to complete as a sort of trial to get an armour that’s really nice looking, that way people can show it off as a way to prove that they achieved something really difficult.
I’d also love to see more armours unlocked through Waypoint, like we had in Reach. Some could be based off of achievements from previous games, as we’ve seen before, but we could also have a system that unlocks stuff based off of our Career Milestones. Certain milestones would give us certain prizes, starting out with emblems, moving on to a small handful of weapon skins and then finally a set of armour or two.
I was never a big fan of recon, there’s much better armor, so I just don’t really care

He was being sarcastic.
OT: Truth to be told, I think pre-order armor for H4 was terrible. Why? Because it was a bunch of armor that could be unlocked through grinding, just with a re-skinned look. If there is pre-order armor for Halo X1, it should be something exclusive, a brand new armor design that cannot be unlocked anywhere else in game. It is an exclusive, right?
I also love your ideas of finding armor pieces and skulls scattered throughout the campaign, unlocking armor as you go.
Hate when people troll kids for this stuff its like they act like they were never kids but I want more hard to get things

Well one of the achievements in SA is a vidmaster achievement so we very well could see a return of these achievements. Possibly continuing with next Halo and maby we will see a vidmaster in the new map pack for Halo 4 coming up this month.
Exciting times!

I wish they would have given us Chief’s new armor for doing LASO that would be AWESOME!!

Along with a 200 gamerscore achievement
> I wish they would have given us Chief’s new armor for doing LASO that would be AWESOME!!
It would also make no sense and ruin what makes Chief’s armor special.
No thanks.
