So they added the old style Recon Helmet, which in my opinion looks a lot cooler than the new one. Don’t get me wrong, it’s awesome that they’re adding older helmets back into the game. However, when viewing it on your spartan… there are two things that look slightly odd about it; One is that it appears too small. It makes your Spartan look a bit like a pin head. Not only that, it isn’t quite wide enough.
The second thing was that strange little black addition on top. I know it was a common thing back in Halo: Reach, but honestly, I prefer the look of the helmet without it. What does everyone else think? Do you like the look of the helmet, or wish it would be changed?

I’d prefer for that black thing to be removed, as it would make the helmet look more classic.
Wasn’t that helmet a Reach pre order bonus?
Agree. All the Reach helmets look small. When it comes to the attachment, it was fine in Reach because all the armor had similar additions (and you could always take it off), but in 5 it looks somewhat out of place and unnecessary to me.
I don’t mind it on the Pilot helmet because I don’t like the ‘bald’ (for lack of a better word) look of EVA-style helmets. I think Security could have used it too, but I wouldn’t use that helmet probably anyway, so it’s no big deal.

The Recon helmet in Halo Reach was a pre-order bonus (at least not exclusive __phew__).
Without the uplink. Classic is much better
I’m glad some people agree. I was trying to make this a poll, so I could quickly see how many people like it, don’t, want to change it, but the site wouldn’t let me for some reason. I don’t think 343 will see this but if they did, it would be awesome to perhaps add an additional variant of it, WITHOUT the ‘addition’. The helmet itself also looks fairly odd though. It’s hard to imagine someone’s entire head fitting inside of it and still having ‘padding’ that the helmets provide. It’s a pretty poor example, because it’s so dark but see how much extra ‘wall’ there is to the helmet?
idk i agree that they should take it off but its the way i rocked it in reach so i truthfully think it looks better

If you’re having trouble making a poll, follow this tutorial.
After looking at it a bit, yeah, the Recon [GEN1] helmet does look kinda like a pinhead.
(On a totally unrelated note, EOD with the Security armor looks pretty cool, if you ask me.)
If anything I’m disappointed that it doesn’t have its second attachment. You know, that comm thing on the side, even Noble has it.

The EOD helmet was my standard helmet in Reach. My dude had like… ODST shoulders, the EOD helmet, Steel primary paint, and the ‘Camaro yellow’ secondary. Looked awesome. I’m planning on giving my Guardians chick the new- uh… old… Recon helmet, but it looks odd at the moment.
I don’t mind it to be honest. I believe the reason they added the attachment was to make it easier for players to differentiate between the two variants.

Hmm… well the Mark V helmets don’t have that differentiation though? You’re probably right though.

They do; they look very, very different. The only real difference between old Recon and new Recon is the weird diaper shape on the new Recon.

I think it was for some countries, in the US it came with Reach no matter what.

The pre order bonus Recon had like a phone or mic thing on the right side of the helmet and as well as the guard on the top.

The helmet itself wasn’t but using a pre-order code gave you the helmet with the “hardened 3rd-generation uplink module for MILINT acquisition”. Personally, I like the attachment. It makes it look more militaristic, IMO.
The body style in 5 is so small that Jorge’s armor looks like it shrunk so much I hate it!
When is next update to get recon gen1 helmet
The armor looks weird in general on waypoint we will just have to wait and see to see how good it’ll look

I actually much prefer it. Spartans are supposed to be peak physical human beings, so it’d make sense for them to have an athletic body. One that’s strong, but above all, not too heavy. Of course, Jorge was an exception. Even in Reach, he was taller and bigger than all the other Spartans. I really like the ‘slimmed down’ look of the new Spartans. If you actually look at them, and compare them to real life Olympian athletes, they’re often actually bigger and more muscular. If anything, it’s fairly optimistic to have them the size they currently are. I know the suit makes them look bigger though. Buck for example was probably about 6 feet tall, going by Nathan Fillion’s height. But in Guardians, he suddenly shoots up to average Spartan height, which is closer to 7 feet. I reckon the armour makes the Spartans look even bigger than they are, with all the chunky shoes, helmets and everything else. I think if they were any bigger though, they’d just look gangly or too ‘bodybuilder’ to be an effective soldier.
