Somebody tell me how in the world this happened? Can we modify weapons in forge now? No, seriously, I gotta know this.

You should be able to modify weapons in forge regardless!
Per the stream they didn’t mention modifying weapons in forge at all.
However they did say they made it a recon DMR because a regular one would give to much of a site line advantage.
