there might be some mistakes with my english-
I saw a video on youtube from Ready Up Live that shows some controller schemes, Recon is:
A - jump/clamber
B - melee attack/spartan charge
X - sprint
Y - switch weapons
RS - smart scope/zoom
RB - action/reload
RT - fire weapon
start - pause/menu
back - scoreboard
right and left arrows (< - >) - switch granade
LS - crouch/ground pound
LB - thruster pack
LT - throw granade
(these last two are exchanged in the control settings menu, but Ready Up Live says LB is thruster pack and LT is throw granade)
this is how I exactly wanted the Recon controller scheme

in the image you can see that there is no a smart scope/zoom toggle option (like toggle crouch), so my question is: do I have to hold RS to smart scope/zoom or I can press it as it’s always been to turn the scoping on/off?
(please 343, PLEASE, don’t make me hold RS, that would be AWFUL)

There’s an option just that he didnt have time to look through. Remember that vid was him skimming through to get the controls he wanted not a detailed options preview.

Rest easy my friend. I’m positive that the option is in there. As you can see here the options on the left are scrolled all the way up. Based on the length of the scroll bar and the fact there is space underneath that scroll bar makes me assume that more options are available.Toggle Zoom likely to be one of them.

YES, the options are:
-button layout
-thumbsticks layout
-look sensitivity
-look inversion
-toggle crouch
-clench protection
-end sprint via button
-maintain sprint
-auto-stabilize
-hold to clamber
-reset to defaults

Yes the options are there but if you watch the other videos when he explains that smart scope is not ads and is just a new animation he says you just click the right stick. He doesnt say hold. And also i am pretty sure he would have said something about having to hold it bercuase he is great at explaining the game play in reference to past halos. everyone get your -Yoink!- out of a bunch
A lot of people don’t seem to know that it’s very possible to just hold to zoom in the older Halo games as well. Even if you use the default control scheme, just click and hold the right stick, and it’ll zoom in. Let go, and it’ll zoom out. It’s a lot more apparent if you use the Fish Sticks control scheme, where you hold down the left trigger to zoom in. There has never been a toggle zoom option, since both have always been there.
I’m sure Halo 5 will be exactly the same way as all the other Halo games, either hold to zoom, or press to toggle.
Now, I just hope we get the reclaimer control scheme in Halo 5…
