Recon Armour & Blue Flame Effect Removed (Halo 3/Reach)

With the servers for 3 and Reach going offline I expected to lose multiplayer and sadly challenges but I wasn’t expecting to also have items in my armory vanish as well :tired_face: Did we not still have access to these even when we played offline back in the day??

Rip to anyone who earned recon from completing all the vidmaster achievements… or to anyone who we’re gifted blue flames from the og bungie team in 2011 for signing up to bungie.net and using their ios app before the end of bungie day.

Also kinda wish they could have taken the challenge system and made it to function locally without the need for a server having them rotate. Not all of the challenges required multiplayer, was fun booting it up occasionally and seeing a challenge for campaign or firefight. With commendations also being gone I don’t think you’ll be able to earn credits in the game anymore.

EDIT: Just realized our armour also doesn’t show up in game even though we can still see it in our armory

I don’t mind losing the armour in Halo: Reach because that can be earned offline (with the exception of the Eternal flames). I am sore about losing the Recon armour in Halo 3 though (my gamertag is based on my accomplishment of getting all Vidmaster’s).

As you had to have a Microsoft account to get the armour in the first place, part of me assumed (or maybe hoped is the right word here) that the armour was tied to the account itself, but evidently that is not the case.

Sadly after playing a bit last night I noticed you can’t actually wear any of your earned armour in game anymore. You can still look at and edit it in the armoury but when you play a game you’ll be wearing black default noble 6 armour :frowning:

For Reach specifically, you can still view your armor in-game by forcing your console to offline mode before booting up the game.

Wish I’d set it to that before the servers shut off. Wonder if I could’ve kept blue flames and recon on the console since I don’t remember them going missing anytime I’d played without internet connection.
