Is there any way at all, to obtain the Recon armor for Halo 3 now at all?
Afraid not. When Bungie transferred Halo to 343 everyone was given Recon since you needed to use Bungie.net to get it, back in 2012.

If we’re lucky 343 will include a way to unlock it in the new MCC, but that won’t be soon.

It doesn’t matter OP, as with all armor, this variant will not confer any advantage at all to you nor does it give other players that have it an advantage over you. It’s completely useless.

The only reason I want to get it is because it I like it and it looks great.

Looks don’t matter. Regardless of the armor you equip you will still have the same stats at the end of the game.
Unfortunately no. I have had people try to buy my account for the Recon but I never would. Sorry OP, wish the Vidmasters still counted for it.

Wow, and here I was about to try to get my remaining 2 vidmasters in the hopes of finally obtaining the armor. Looks like I’ll just have to settle with only the gamerscore.
You can earn the Vidmaster Achievements but there’s no way to go about unlocking Recon armor now. You had to log in to your Bungie account in order to do so. You can’t do so now because Bungie is no longer involved with Halo.
I remember when Recon armor for halo 3 was a rare thing to get, as you had to be majorly apart of the community. I miss those days 
Man i knew recon was rare and alot wanted it but even now after a decade people still desire it. I hope that infinite follows this same kinda path with their armor. Dont GIVE us everything you know let us seriously EARN them.
Unfortunately, Halo: The Master Chief Collection is the only way to use the Recon armor in Halo 3 if you’ve yet to obtain it in the original Xbox 360 release. There are unofficial ways of unlocking it, but those, naturally, involve things that would get you banned from Xbox Live. Recon’s unlock requirements were heavily linked to Bungie.net, and as Bungie are no longer in charge of Halo, there’s no way of using the Vidmaster achievements for anything beyond bragging rights.

AGREED. I liked that achievements were tied to armors in games. Not stupid REQ packs. Immediately turned me off to Halo 5, especially since even the emblem I’ve used since Halo 2 was locked. I wanna earn my Recon in Infinite, not just “randomly” unlock it or pay $10 for the pack to get it.

It’s not longer possible for anyone to receive Recon on the Xbox 360 version of Halo 3.
