Honestly if the BR is to have recoil added to its mechanics, I don’t see why an H3-esque recoil for the SRS99 wouldn’t return as well.
If so, I have pondered the idea of crouching to reduce or remove the kick-back action as a means to choose between 2 types of shooting across the ranges.
A player using 2-sticks with their weapons will not be effected much by the recoil mechanic. Their constant moving while aiming and shooting makes their reticle control first nature to them.
A player that isn’t using 2-sticks to play is already an easier target to hit, and if they had the option of crouching to reduce recoil near completely, then they become very easy targets for 2-stick players but now at least can shoot “farther” with more control.
Just guessing but about 75% of Halo’s population, maybe 90% of the gaming population.

the sniper (it’s not a sniper, it’s an AM-rifle requisitioned as a sniper for shield-bearing/heavy armoured enemies.)
The more technically skilled players of Halo use both of their analog sticks to move around the playing field while shooting. Less skilled players do actually stop individual motions from either stick to allow their mind to focus more on the target to shoot, mostly their left stick, but some Legacy users stop using their right.
It has to do with the amount of data a player can process, both input and output wise. The more technically skilled players process their visual and auditory senses and then output them through their digits much quicker than less skilled players.
I think this could allow “slower” players more options for their style of play without infringing on the players that are much “quicker” as a slow player is a near stationary target that can’t reliably hit a moving one in the first place. Quick players will use the mechanic on large maps, but rarely on the smaller or arena-styled maps.
People really can’t use 2 sticks at once? Wow… I thought everyone did. I just move and aim at the same time without even thinking about it. However when I strafe I line up the reticle with head and use left stick to line it up, unless they jump, then I whip it.
