Recoil. Should it be in halo 4

To me recoil ruined Halo Reach as much as armour abilities. They shouldn’t be in Halo 4 because your in a super suit with energy shields. The only time your gun should recoil is when you shoot it and your have no shields. Because in my eyes your shields should be able to absorb the recoil. This is just a thought but I want your guys’ opinions do think it was a good or bad feature in Reach? And should it be included with the next trilogy?

while bloom and recoil may seem to be similar, they are completely two different things, mechanic wise. I think bloom should either be scratched, or tweaked.

yeah recoil is when the screen is moved when the weapon is shot.

Spartans hold their guns tight enough to be unaffected by recoil. So your answer is no.

Sorry had a dumb moment here guys have a cold. I meant bloom, Spartans should not be affected by bloom.

Recoil? Yes. Bloom? Hell no.

That is all.

> Spartans hold their guns tight enough to be unaffected by recoil. So your answer is no.

Then explain the SMG in Halo 2 and 3. I recall there being recoil despite being a spartan

That’s because the SMG is a fail weapon (kidding).

But in all seriousness, I don’t want bloom in Halo at all. This is 500+ years into the future; if gun technicians have failed to remove what bloom imitates, then I don’t have much respect for Halo’s universe.

Recoil, though, will be inevitable for automatic weapons.

Don’t they only use one hand? or at least when they dual-wield.

They use two hands when holding the SMG by itself. But I think that recoil was more of an off-cannon gameplay mechanic than anything else. Realistically, and especially with Master Chief’s MJOLNIR Mark VI armor, the SPARTAN-II’s should be strong enough to reduce practically all recoil.

A slight recoil on some weapons is fine. It actually makes shooting more skillful unlike bloom.

ODST style recoil I could live with. I don’t like bloom all that much and for the sake of the community Bloom ought to go.

Well in reach youre a Spartan III which are the cost effective/cheap spartans. So i guess bungie figures they cant be as good as Spartan II’s(Master Chief) so they down-graded them.
In Halo 4 you will be master chief again, so hopefully 343i wont put bloom in the game because that wouldnt make any sense.

Recoil: No.
Bloom: No.

This is the key to making it feel like classic Halo.

i honestly hope its not in Halo 4, infact i hope Halo 4 is more like Halo 3 gameplay wise, Halo 3s sandbox was better then reachs imo,

having equipment placed around the map added an unpredictable element to the game, not to mention that once you got it you could only use it once, plus, its much more satisfying to gt a kill with a sniper that doesn’t have much aim assist knowing that your skill alone was the reason the shot was a success,

AAs and bloom ruined the strategy and skill of Halo,

AAs ruined the strategy of halo imo,

instead of deciding where to go first in the map based on the equipment you want, now all ya do is go find people to kill or defend/attack the base,

in Halo 3 you could be strategic and be rewarded for things like getting the power weapons, controlling key parts in the map, getting the useful equipment before the enemy, defending your base, flanking the enemy base, and sniping enemy’s for afar to support your team,

the list goes on and on,

bloom ruined the skill of halo imo,

in Halo 3 two men enter, and the better man leaves, in reach, two men enter, both spam the trigger hoping to get the kill, one of them wins due to luck,
in Halo 3it felt satisfying when you got a kill becuase you where the better player, all in good sportsmanship,

in Halo 3 after a game the people on both teams usually say good game showing respect for the other team no matter who won or lost,

in reach you end up hearing people the people who won the match talking about how they owned the other team and how skilled they are, no matter how close the match is, rarely you will here people say good game

Halo reach in my honest opinion is fun, but it took some key things halo had and took them out, the strategy and skill of halo is no longer/not very present,

this is why i hope 343 makes Halo 4 more like Halo 3.

i never understood how a spartan, with a super advanced set of armor and an insane amount of physical augmentations, couldnt hold a gun without being affected by recoil, or why a spartans advanced HUD couldnt correct bloom on its own, i mean its why we dont aim down the sights in Halo isnt it? the suit auto-corrects and auto aims at everything

There was recoil as far back as halo 2.

Keep recoil

If you are dual wielding I am all for it.

Recoil = Yes, because its easy to handle.
Bloom= No, because I don’t like it.

i totally agree with everything you said.
Halo 3s gameplay was way better and i really hope 343i has the same opinion

NO BLOOB… Recoil on Dual Wield weapons ya. BUT NO FREAKIN BLOOM! AND NO -Yoinking!- AAs!

Take Halo 2 and Halo 3, use the best things of both games and make Halo 4 a great start for the new trilogy please 343i dont even think about including anything Reach brought to Halo!
