recoil for the battle rifle is great !

here is Why recoil can be a good thing.

It solves the problems that was trying to be solved using bloom.

If I’m not mistaken the point of using Bloom was to Virtualize the real world
aspect dealing with the fact that the more time you have to aim between shots the
more accurate they will potentially be.

Bloom was a substitute for a recoil model.

It was an interesting experiment but ultimately it was too much a departure of the norm for people ( including myself ) who like to use a ranged weapon with a fast rate of fire that still can retain accuracy.

The recoil on the battle rifle is great because it makes the weapon more challenging to use ( potentially increasing the skill required to use it ) While at the same time not being annoying and affecting your rate of fire as heavily as bloom does.

Think of it as only slight Vertical bloom with ( possibly ) a very small horizontal variance that you have to compensate for to stay on target.

Naturally the more you fire the more recoil their will be and the more you will have to use your ThumbStick skills to compensate and stay on target.

No info is out on how little or much the recoil is but even a little could be enough to really hit that sweet spot where it still feels like the good ol’ battle rifle we know but balances it out so that it isn’t just a 3 shot spam weapon.

For now I think we should see this as a positive thing and potentially something that can improve the gameplay rather than detract from it.

I’m sure 343i knows that it wouldn’t be fun to have a gun that kicks like a 44 Magnum and are tweaking it for playability.

I don’t really have a problem with it, assuming it means the whole gun kicks up and the bullets actually still go to their intended targets.

Nooo…

To make it so Halo didn’t have one all-powerful weapon like the Battle Rifle. Bloom was there to make such weapons effective at mid/long range at their tasks, but ineffective at close range. Did it pan out? No. But not because of the concept itself. Just because of the implementation of it being so poor.

As far as ‘recoil’ goes? I’ll have to have it in my hands before I can tell if I approve or not.

Agreed, very well put.

I’m pretty sure the BR had recoil before…

Having the BR as a hitscan weapon was logical. I don’t think we’ll ever see bullet spread again in future Halo games.

And recoil seems like the prefect replacement for bloom in my opinion.

Leading Shots (Halo CE Pistol) > Recoil

Didn’t they say bloom wasn’t coming back in the Bulletin? Just Recoil?

Recoil was the best possible solution for Bloom. It’s a controllable, skillful mechanic that does not directly affect accuracy, and cannot possibly promote spamming.

Love it.
