We know future content such as Primordium, Glasslands and the Anniversary Terminals will connect to Halo 4 in some way. I’ve been thinking up a list of possible story threads which could connect. It can be updated once Anniversary is released and terminals are watched as well as when Primordium is read.

Timeless One
There has been a lot of talk about how the Timeless One is the Gravemind and there is a lot of evidence which supports the theory. Some say that it can’t be the Gravemind because he’s dead but they never would have created the Timeless One as a character if it was simply going to be an already dead character. I’m sure we will learn much more about the Flood’s connection to the Timeless One in the next Forerunner novel but I pretty much believe the Timeless One is indeed the villain in Halo 4. In the Halo Trilogy he controlled the Flood and attempted to assimilate the Galaxy, instead he planted the seeds which could unite the Galaxy who will rise up and take him on in the Reclaimer Trilogy. If he indeed did control the Flood in the Halo Trilogy, he may be controlling another slave race in the Reclaimer Trilogy. Forerunner perhaps?
Didact
Remember the book signing where Greg Bear mentioned he has seen drawings of the Didact and he was given a “Shhh, don’t talk about that” look from Kevin Grace? Now we know that the cover for both Cryptum and the upcoming Primordium are pieces of Halo 4 concept art. If I had to guess there is a drawing of the Didact because it was concept art from Halo 4 which would indicate the Didact is now in the game. A Cryptum is a tomb which is capable of keeping someone in suspended animation for a considerably long time, (the Didact was in status for 1000 years), and the Forerunner have a much longer lifespan anyways because of their armor. They’re also able to “reincarnate” into other Forerunner like he did with Bornstellar so with these possibilities I would expect to see the Didact as a character in Halo 4.
Faber
The creator of the Halo Rings and the guy who spit in the face of the Forerunner’s beliefs. He was put on trial by the Forerunner but was freed when Mendicant Bias assaulted the Capital. Now we know he’s conducting experiments on Humans aboard a lost Halo Ring, (Installation 05?). If he isn’t killed in the next two novels it’s possible he and his own loyal following of Forerunner could be Villains in Halo 4 as well. Is he a slave to the Timeless One?
Mark VII MJOLNIR Armor
- Next-gen fusion-plasma hybrid technology
- Atmospheric insertion systems
- Slipspace de-insertion capability
- Active AI transfer protocols
- Limited shaping of energy shields (partial overlaps, airfoils, etc.)
Naomi-010 is wearing Mark VII armor in February 2553. She says the armor was built by a different company so it’s possible it was in development around the same time as the Mark VI. Has the ability to repair itself in Cryo and is lighter than the Mark VI. Is this the Mark VII?
Spartan IV
A project which will allow adult volunteers to become the next generation of Spartans. Some are already said to exist and have been stationed aboard the UNSC Infinity. It is unknown if they are capable of wearing MJOLNIR armor as their Augmentations have not been identified. If they are chemically enhanced as the Spartan IIIs are, then they probably do have the ability to wear the Armor. Perhaps some of the Spartan IIIs of Gamma or even those now part of Blue Team will volunteer to be upgraded to a IV?
UNSC Infinity
Proto-type Starship incorporating Forerunner technology. It was pretty advanced but now there are Forerunner Engineers who are going to look it over. This plus confiscated Forerunner transports which they can look over and dissect means she will be one mean Warship. Every Halo game has had a primary ship so she will probably act in this capacity. Each ship before her however suffered some terrible fate so I wonder if the curse of the Halo ships continues in Halo 4 or will the Forerunner tech in this ship allow her to survive more than one game?
Halo Wars: Spirit of Fire - MIA
Halo: CE: Pillar or Autumn - Destroyed
Halo 2: In Amber Clad - Destroyed
Halo 3: Forward Unto Dawn - Destroyed
Halo 4: Infinity - Active
Captain Andrew Del Rio
Captain of the UNSC Infinity as of Glasslands. Could he be the Captain Keyes of Halo 4? Not much is known about him at this point but he has been in Command of the Infinity for a number of years so he’s most likely overseeing her construction.
Rear Admiral Sarin Osman
Promoted to Rear Admiral in April 2553 and selected to become head of ONI. She’s a lot younger than Admiral Paragnosky and she’s partially a Spartan so it’s possible she may have a more active role instead of just being a behind the scenes type. She could be the Lord Hood of Halo 4 or perhaps she commands the Infinity instead of Del Rio?
Installation 03
Before Glasslands was released we were shown two Halo Anniversary terminals. One of them had shown and identified the Monitor of Installation 03, 03-049 Abject Testament. Is it a coincidence that this monitor was identified just before we learn that ONI has a research station in orbit of Installation 03? I don’t think so. Perhaps Abject Testament will be our Guilty Spark in the Reclaimer Trilogy? What’s also interesting is that when the Pillar of Autumn approached Installation 04 she was given a warning by Guilty Spark to back away but then let them near it when he learned they were Human. Did Abject Testament give them the same warning only to let them near it because he knew they were Human? Is he in communication with them already? Or did he not care or notice them there because he is distracted or captured like 05-2401 Penitent Tangent was? I’d like to find out.
Blue Team
They’re free from the Dyson’s Sphere. What excuse will they come up with to keep them out of Halo 4? I hope the answer is none. Let them finally join the Chief again please.
