The official sign for Reclaimer in Forerunner language is the Marathon sign.
And since 343 is apparently NOT allovved to use this symbol, hovv vvill they solve this in the serie vvithout breaking cannon?
After all this nevv serie is called the “Reclaimer Trilogy”.
ps my vv button is broke and I hate virtual keyboards.

We complain and insult 343. Like you guys do to Bungie?
LOL this is hilarious for one big reason, they’ve already fixed it. Look at any of the terminal videos for Halo: CEA. The middle of Guilty Spark’s eye/body was a marathon symbol. Apparently all they have to do is change it a little bit. Nobody seemed to notice.
BTW, that symbol isn’t the sign for the forerunners. It can’t be because it’s also on The Pillar of Autumn. Bungie just liked to sneak it in wherever they could.
Don’t forget, Microsoft owned Bungie AND the Marathon symbol at one point. Once it made its way into Halo games, it became part of Halo and my guess is that if 343i wants to keep it, they will. The question is, does Bungie have the right to use it for themselves?

Do some research, its the symbol for RECLAIMER btvv but in Forerunner language (glyph sign).
And this is the point, 343 can’t use it and their title involves it.
PS the only hilarious thing is you not being able to read vvhat I vvrote.

Actually Microsoft never ovvned Bungie, they had them under contract for making a franchise vvhich had 5 games (H1, H2, H3, H3ODST and Reach). In no vvay MS ovvned the Marathon franchise.

well my whole point was that canonically if that’s what they wanna call “Forerunner” they kinda busted it by throwing it on a UNSC ship, not that you were wrong or that it isn’t what they use in the games.

> Also, way to be a Yoink! and not read what I wrote. 343 has already changed it. If you’re curious what it looks like now go here. http://gematsu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/07/HCEA-Terminals-Clip.jpg

I saw the clip, and noticed that indeed the sign is gone from spark his eye (I knew this but I’m just curious in how they are going to solve this.).
Then again how is this change going to be explained canonically.
Also yes they putted it nearly everwhere but according to Halopedia (and referenced, can’t check right now because I’m not home for the next 2 days and geus were my book collection is) the symbol for Reclaimer is the Marathon symbol.
Well, I’d find it hard to imagine Bungie being upset if 343 used the symbol, since Bungie added it to the Halo series which now belongs to 343, so it seems to me that the symbol would logically be owned to 343. Either way, I never really noticed the symbol that much, so I don’t care too much.
According to Contact Harvest, the Marathon symbol is the reclaimer symbol, but it’s not exactly hard for them to retcon that. The reason they’re not using the Marathon symbol anymore is because they don’t want to step on Bungie’s toes by using a symbol from a property owned by Bungie. I don’t think it’ll be problematic, the glyph may not even appear in the new trilogy.
Why is there so much terrible typing and misinformation here? Bungie was bought by Microsoft, they have since separated. They were under contract to stay with Microsoft for a set amount of years, this happens all the time when a big company buys a small one.
The Marathon symbol has changed, glad many of you noticed. Obviously the Marathon symbol is still Bungie property. The slight changes won’t be a big issue.
Also, can we stop with the vv’s instead of w’s and other such silliness? I don’t want to point any fingers, but it makes the people not doing it look much smarter than the ones who do.

While Microsoft did own Bungie, they did not own any existing IPs Bungie had created prior to Halo. Marathon and the Marathon symbol always were and always will be property of Bungie.
As an example, take the logo for the Superintendent: Featured in Halo 3 ODST, it is owned by Bungie, despite its appearance in a Halo title.
More on Topic: If anything, 343i will create a new symbol, modify the old one, or even ask Bungie for permission to continue using it.
