Recharge - Least Favorite Map in a Long Time

Opinion: this map us just not fun. Yes, I know it requires adaptation. Yes, I know I can get better.

But let me explain. This map is won by the BR welding team. Gameplay is basically - get BR, stay up top, grenade doorways.
Being able to see all the way across to the other side is just…obnoxious. If you are in anyway out in the open, you die.

Now, contrast this to Bazaar, which also has a “pit” or a “kill box”, and yet the level feels WAY better. The paths around feel smoother. The cover in the center feels better. It’s just a better designed map.

I agree. Teams of 4 especially are doing this. They get up top and camp at the windows with BRs. The BRs should be put towards the bottom or middle of the map. I also don’t like this map as much because it is so vertical. It feels like another h5 map. I don’t want to be forced to grapple or clamber to get around the map.

I like recharge but I can agree that going in the middle is suicide. The close-quarters combat is everywhere else though which is a refreshing feeling compared to bazaar where I feel like I’m battling one team and stuck on one side of the map.

Agreed, too many times I see someone from the other team camp that little spot and spam BR. Obviously, people will argue that that is part of map control, but imo it’s heavily unbalanced with AR+sidekick starts that just can’t compete with the BRs range.

Maybe if we were using Halo 5’s pistol this wouldn’t be such an issue but unfortunately we’re stuck with the sidekick.

For the final game they need to put more brs on map especially at each tower to balance out the map. Instead of having one side commando and other BR it is too one sided agree that’s why it’s my least favorite as well

Its almost like there is a reason players should spawn with utility weapons like the BR. I imagine it would also help if every on map item spawn wasn’t chained to a rack or a pad so we could have more than two ranged weapons at any given time.

I also wrote this post after getting decimated in a strongholds match and was super annoyed. Admittedly, I enjoy Recharge a lot more when invis is on the map. Because invis hammer is great.

But I just feel it is unbalanced. High ground is too oppressive and too difficult to break. Again, in my opinion!

Agreed, my favorite so far is Bazaar and Live Fire is pretty good too. Recharge earlier one team would not leave their campgrounds with the BR.

I’m hoping a larger map like that will solve a lot of the problems. I like Live Fire as well, but I have always preferred outdoor maps in Halo. Maybe that’s why I don’t like Recharge at all.

Agree! I also deeply dislike Recharge!

Didn’t even read your post you are straight high for that opinion. It needs polishing but the bones are amazing. Slayer and stronghold play so well on this map. It makes you think about each engagement.

Was stronghold in PvP yesterday damn.

I didn’t get to play but I’m dying to try objective. Recharge feels like a map that will thrive in Strongholds and King.

Seems like a great map for Slayer in my eyes too tbh. Don’t see the issue, map control but you can’t control the map and fully dominate the spawning team.

My general thoughts are that both of those maps are terrible for slayer but good for objective because it promotes map movement of the players. The 1 map you didn’t mention is good for either slayer or objective. Bazaar will play absolutely terrible in ranked with 2 teams holding BRs. I’ve seen it commented on from the casual to the pro. Both sharing the same opinion on it.

Team slayer on bazaar is amazing capture the flag is amazing stronghold is amazing everything is so amazing there are little things that need to be changed about each map but the gun’s handle so much better than the 1st flight the graphics are so much better the optimization is so much better it is just insane

This is why this game needs BR starts in all modes. The pistol and AR combo can’t compete at range, and due to the terrible aiming of the pistol anything further than med range you have to play around the BRs so much its just not fun.

Either made the pistol way stronger at range or BR starts for me, and with the way autos and radar work it makes it such a camp/crouch fest most of the time.

Isn’t opinion great? We are each entitled to our own.

This, I think, would fix the problem I have with it. Even just changing the commando to BR so you have either 2 BRs or 2 commandos and not one of each would be a very welcome change. The issue is that one team controlling the BR and BR spawn is so oppressive right now. Sure, you can take it with a coordinated team, but I feel like most of the time you will feed so much to finally dislodge them, you are too far behind for it to matter at that point.

Map would be way better without the constant grenade spam.

I’d agree. Don’t know how you fix that though, so I think the BR issue would be the way to go. Two BRs or two commandos. None of this one of each thing.
