So i’ve had this game for a while, but as of lately, i find myself wanting to play more and more online. Only problem is, i’m a lowish rank, and i constantly get paired up against high levels, so i get barley any time to learn how to play better. I play with 2 other friends who are the same ranks as me, and we always get paired vs high levels and never stand a chance. Anyone able to throw me some guides/tips for certain builds or whatnot? I enjoy playing almost any of the leaders. Also looking for people to play with for fun/maybe get that achievement for getting a higher rank for 360. Let me know all, thanks.
I’ll be happy to play with you! Halo Wars is a great game and It’s great see new people jumping into RTS on the Console. If you wanna play some friendly matches hit me up! VoidPro is my Xbox Live Gamertag and just message me saying that I replied to you on the forum and I’ll make sure to give you all my tips and tricks on how to play and once you learn the basics, we can play online and wreck some kids! Hope to see you soon.
This is one easy build that’s excellent against bad players. Quality opponents won’t have much trouble countering it, but most of the people you’ll be playing will be bad. It works best against the UNSC.
Start like so:
> Play as the Brute Chieftain
> Build order: Temple/Warehouse/Warehouse/Unit production/Warehouse
> Send your Chopper to get supplies immediately, a couple of early crates help immensely
> Set your rally point to the teleporter
When your leader spawns, send him to the opposing base straight away, and begin training Brute squads from your main base. Always have at least one Brute squad in training. This will mean you won’t be able to afford to build constantly; don’t worry about this. Just put the buildings up as and when you have the money spare.
When you arrive at his base, spread your units out such that he can’t sneak a turret up. As is standard with rushes, take out turrets and unit production buildings first. Brutes are excellent against buildings, so turrets shouldn’t be an issue. Use your Vortex against enemy Hogs; insta-explode it, this saves money and lets you get units out faster. Flamers are really your only problem; try and sponge them with your leader while your Brutes take out the Barracks. Vortex is good against them until they get Flashbang, which they almost certainly won’t have, but be sure not to waste too much money.
In a couple of minutes, you’ll have his base surrounded by Brutes, your Chieftan and whichever other unit (Banshees, Wraiths or Grunts) you decided to build, and he’ll be soon overwhelmed. Enjoy the victory and the tirade of angry messages from kids crying they got rushed. Bonus points when you beat a General, which will be pretty often; most of them wouldn’t get past Recruit on a skill-based ranking system.
Thanks for the tips! I’ll have to try it out:)
VoidPro i sent you a request on live.
If anyone else has some other strategies or wouldn’t mind playing with a noob, let me know.
The brute rush is a such a great tactic, only if the opponent doesn’t know what you’re doing. Every time I see a Brute Chieftain as my opponent leader, immediately I start turtling with Jackals and make sure that I control his rush. They key is to have him waste his money, while you build something great on the side. Usually to I run Forge when I know Chieftain will be my opponent leader, and go Barracks>Warehouse>Warehouse>Reactor. Then makes about 3 or 4 Warthogs and go ahead and destroy the rebel base nearest from me and just make that base simply for resources. Of course while I’m pumping out Flamers, I make sure they are at least 2>1 while the Chieftain Vortex can cause some serious damage. Just another thought if you know that you’re facing the Chieftain in a private lobby or something.

As UNSC the best plan to counter brute is Hogs, Hogs and More Hogs. Although a Conga line of flamers chasing after a low health chieftain who’s been D-Bombed so he can’t tele is always fun.
As covy the main plan would be to get your own leader out and you Special forces infantry bought from your main base. go for an early citadel if you need to. Citadels have more health so they will survive longer if you get rushed.
If i’m being honest I rarely play anything other that 3v3 unarranged and I haven’t seen many people rush lately (Myself excluded)
Thanks again to both of you, would love to play some games with you both to help me learn. Void, i already added you, teampist, if you’re up for dealing with a noob, my gamertag is RepayableLemon. Let me know
Also, if you have any more strategies, feel free to throw them my way. I’ve been hearing a lot about hog rushing with anders but haven’t pinpointed the exact build order for everything. Same goes to AdmiredBroom too.
Hey, I am getting this game tomorrow and I am so excited! I have heard so many people say that Halo Wars is terrible, so I never gave it a shot. I was bored tonight and decided to download the demo. And I haven’t been able to stop playing it all day. The cut-scenes in the campaign offered by the demo were the best cut-scenes I think I have ever seen on a console! And after that I couldn’t stop playing the skirmish. The only thing offered in the demo is 1v1 Cutters vs Prophet of Regret on Chasms, but even playing that is fun. If any of you want to play with me, and I have a friend who has been playing for a long time, just add Monereeka.

Anyone want to play today?

I just bought it, add me
I’m new too, I just finished campaign and tried some multiplayer matches but as you I don’t stand a chance against high levels players.
then read my matchmaking 3v3 tips. the most common higher level strats are based off those foundation strategies. except that at the highest level gauss hogs > everything.
