I have played halo since the launch or the original game, I feel like I should just give me two cents.
I am not a bad player by any means, I’m not winning any tournament anytime soon, but for the most part the franchise has been an enjoyable escape for me, a place where I didn’t need to roll with an entire squad and could enjoy so great match making, I found that not the case in this initial flight in Infinite, I rarely had a positive k/d, and when I did, it would not be much of one, think 11 and 10 kind of game.
I felt like the rounds did nothing, the MA40 is chambered is 7.62x51, a .308 round, capable of taking down a moose, an entire magazine in the game is 36 rounds, I could should someone first with an entire magazine, and I might as well been throwing rocks at a tank, I get that this is a sci-fi game and there are shields and the armor is probably made of some kind of unobtanium, but if that’s the case why are the weapons using traditional lead/copper jacket rounds, make ap rounds or api/aphe, or do something and justify it within the realms of possibilities for the game.
I find the shield strength to be outrageous if the damage output of weapons is not fixed, I would run into players sometimes and I felt the standard shield just wouldn’t drain, I could get the drop on them and spend the entire magazine and it felt like I was shooting blank rounds.
I find these two things to be the main problems with the game, it felt like if I didn’t have a power weapon or was in a 2v1 firefight that was in my favor, there was no point, and if I ran into a 1v2 firefight I ended up just standing there, the MA40 doesn’t do enough damage for 1 person let alone 2.
I like the pick up points or the wall weapons, although it would be fun to begin a game with a BR75 for the entire match, switch it up from the monotony of “oh gee bet I start with the MA40 again” or maybe a spartan vs covenant mode or a flood survival mode, just brain storming.
I enjoyed the game overall and would probably get it, if not for the multiplayer then for the story alone, but I do hope they take our feedback and run with it, I seem to not be the only one who had this issue this go around.
