Look at the bottom right corner of the screen underneath ‘UNSC /RECOVERY’ it says ‘Meridian’, the planet the video is being recorded from. This planet was glassed by the covenant.
Clearly the Covenant is attacking in these videos as this takes place during the Human-Covenant War timeline, so someone in the present timeline (halo universe) is watching these videos for some reason. It’s not to do with the Triad i don’t think.
This world was attacked sometime during the Human-Covenant war after the year 2532 by the Covenant Navy, but the UNSC Defense Force was successful in driving the Covenant off the colony. Although, uncharacteristically, the Covenant returned to Meridian and glassed the planet in 2551.
While glassing the surface, the Covenant sent a three manned team to the surface to look for Forerunner artifacts.This team managed to find an ancient Forerunner Luminary within an underground facility. This specific Luminary though, was special, as it showed all of the known Halo rings and the Lesser Ark.

This begs the Question, how is the Triad relevant to Meridian which was glassed in 2551? Has it been rebuilt? And most importantly, does this link into the recnt attacks on Human colonies?

They mean the records on planets that are glassed arent good. The implied explanation for this is that some records linking to one another dont make sence as other relevant records have been destroyed. Another more likely explanation is that the fact glassed planets were outer colony world which rebelled against the UEG. The records when you are rebelling and being attacked at the same time just before an extra-terrestrial invasion are bound to have mistakes.

They’re referring to government records pertaining to the people that were living on that planet. Birth records, marriage licenses, death certificates, etc. If the Covenant literally bomb a planet with plasma until it’s a smoldering cinder…not much is going to be left of anything, let alone documents.

Ben found some records regarding John’s history from John’s home world that didn’t quite match up with what he was being told by people he was interviewing (who turned out to be actors hired by ONI to help cover up the truth about the Spartan II program). They were placing John in places where he wasn’t … giving him a back story to make up for those years after he was abducted until the legal age to join the UNSC (6-18 years old). The records he found and the accounts from John’s childhood friends regarding his death at 6 years old (his flash clone died), contradicted what he was hearing from an old coach of John’s about him being an amazing boxer when he was 12 or 13. The guy wasn’t really his boxing coach.
So Ben asked Michael Sullivan of ONI about them (remember him from Forward Unto Dawn?) and Sully kept disregarding them by saying “glassed planets have bad records” over and over.

Ben went to a glassed planet where he thought he would find information on the whole conspiracy. He found a bunker with recordings of all of the actors doing their rehearsals as well as other things that proved Ben’s point that something wasn’t right. He decided to immediately get this news out by going on a news station, where all of the files he found were deemed fabricated when the channel was checking them over. ONI had deliberately given him all of the information he wanted, not just at the glassed planet but through his entire project, and it was all 100% true. They had played him to clear themselves of the atrocities that they had committed. This all goes back to one thing that Sullivan had said earlier in the series when Ben found inconsistent information about a glassed planet that made Sullivan seem like he was trying to help Ben:

Unfortunately since I only listened to summaries of each podcast from ReadyUpLive, I didn’t understand enough regarding Ben’s situation and the the info he was finding showing inconsistency with what ONI tried telling him. So thanks to whoever told me the end of Season one.

On the halo nations article about the Triad is says you
**“can reach spiritual “transcendence” by linking the three (lives).”**Whilst all the Halo community are saying “You must find transcendence to understand.” I found it coincidental that the triad is a religion about having threes lives and linking together or something (can we get a lore Expert?) Maybe it is possible that we must somehow link these three binary codes into a way that makes sense, Just a suggestion.
