I’ve been playing Halo 5 since launch, and never had any significant problems connecting to games until a couple weeks ago. Starting then, I’ve been getting frequently disconnected from games - it’s common enough that I usually can’t finish a game of Firefight. Whenever it happens, I also lose my connection to the party for about five seconds.
At first I just figured it was service issues, but now I’m pretty sure it can’t be for two reasons. One, I replaced my modem and router and it didn’t fix the problem. Two, this only ever happens in Halo 5. I spent four hours in a party last night watching Twitch with friends and didn’t get disconnected once. After the stream ended, we hopped onto Halo and I got disconnected twice in two games.
The first of those two times, it stuck - the party kept saying there were network problems (this doesn’t usually happen). I checked my network settings and my NAT had been set to Strict (it’s always been Open). Hard resetting my Xbox fixed that, but I got another quick disconnect less than fifteen minutes later. I gave up for the night.
So is Halo not playing nice with my model of router or something? Has anyone experienced this?
Yes, there is a 50 something page thread. I have the same issue though. It only started on Thursday the 21st for me. Everytime i do well I disconnect. For example I had 18 kills and 5 deaths only half way through fiesta and obtained a Nornfang.
Same here. Only recently has this been a rampant issue. Now it’s almost every game. 343 doesn’t seem to be paying the problem any mind, though. They aren’t replying here or on twitter so I don’t know what to do. I’ve tried ever potential fix on my end and the problem persists. It must be on their side of the connection, not ours.
I don’t know why 343 has not given any feedback on this when it is a major issue
Op if you did just get a new modem and router you still have to go into your router and set your Nat type to Open manually. Doing a hard reset start to your xbox will not cure your problem. The minute you activate the H5 game your Nat will revert back to strict with out you knowing it. So you must log into your router and select Open. Anything less you will encounter problems. Double check that in your router and see what happens. Good luck!

Well unfortunately yes… 
I’ve been having the same problem. It’s so annoying because I play the ranked playlist and I get dragged back down to diamond 1.
I can play titanfall, BF4 and hell even Minecraft with a perfect connection but as soon as I hop on Halo 5 I get booted before the game finishes after I spawn and I get some weird shield glitch, or when I’m about to get a kill.
I might as well go play pokemon go if I wanted these server issues.
I had a couple days without disconnecting, but now it’s happening again. I seriously can’t play the game like this. It’s absolutely unacceptable. There has to be a fix incoming soon.
