recent "cheating"?

Hi first of all, I’m new to the forums, not to the series

I’ve been playing multiplayer for some time now, ha some fun moments, some “not-so-fun.”
The one thing i have spotted quite often are people “glitching” over the map, killing most people in their sight, and everytime they get git they pop in different positions. i know this might sometimes be a connection thing, but the precise shooting makes me think they might wobble their cables…
Another thing that happened was everytime my bullet struck an opponent, my view got shoved away. since this never happened before, and stopped as i left the party during the second game we were just losing because nobody could hit them, i’m not guessing it was too natural.
Am i just overreacting or has onyne else seen this happen more often now?
Sad thing is that this is killing my love for the halo universe

It sounds like you might be suffering from something similar to me. While I would like to say its just lag, 9 times out of 10, the “lag” kicks in, I jump repeatedly running the same 5 steps over and over, while the little red dot comes after me, normally I lose any attempt at fighting. Other times during the lag I melee, shoot, toss grenades that would have killed at least 3 players, only to find myself meleed once into an instant death. Skillwise, I can’t be that bad to lose these moments so consistently, even on team scale, games like this are always one sided, it just seems like something is up, something fishy.

I also have found myself lagging around one specific player at times which has always had me scratching my head, again losing nearly every time.

Na, i would know if it’s me lagging, i use a very good internet connection and never experience any lags, funny thing about the aiming part was that every one in the team couldn’t aim at them, after every hit the gun was pulled upwards
And about the lag-jumping guy: strangely he was the only one lagging around, he was hopping around meleeing everyone, you know, like in Jumper. Was very depressing!

I’ve run into this same thing many times, I’ll be in a game and everything will be running fine with no lag. Then as soon as I start shooting at one specific player, that person will start glitching all over the place so you can’t hit them and they end up killing you. Then once I get away from them, everything is back to normal again. Way too fishy that the lag glitching only causes one player to glitch around the screen and it only starts when shooting at them and stops when you get away from them.

i know how you feel, mine(TODAY) went glitching along the map killing everyone with melee attacks. it frustrates me, keeping my not-shown K/D below 1.0, i’m seriously not a bad player, just occasionly have spawn point problems or such things as above and my death count goes up and up and up… btw: i opened the thread in interest of people talking about their issues (ike this) in multiplayer

Nice to know its not just me.

Maybe we were all in the same game haha!

I’ve had this happen, more severely today. Everyone was in the process of respawning at one point and only 2 players were still roaming the map alive and well. I don’t know if that is lag or what. It is definetly frustrating and sometimes it’s so bad I have to leave the game. I don’t know how these new fangled cheats work but it sure does take the fun outta the game. Seriously thinking about creating the “Justice League” of Halo matchingmaking. No Boltshot junkies, cheaters, people that hide in obscure locations camoed ALL THE TIME, no crazy hardcores who -Yoink!- or melee after the game is over (that’s just rude!) etc. Purists, who play for the fun of the game and use their skill… I’m a girl with a dream… a simple dream. Anyway, you’re not alone.

If you’re shot while scoping in, you “flinch” and your aim jerks upward. This is a normal feature. Does this describe what you were experiencing?

That is definitely lag. It’s a common effect called “rubber-banding”.

What happens is that your console sends your joystick movements to the host, and immediately assumes that the data was received. It acts on this assumption and shows you moving forward. However, your button presses weren’t actually received, so you didn’t actually move. Your console is quickly made aware of the error, and it corrects its assumption, causing you to teleport backward.

Na i know what you mean, that’s nothing to do withe the flinching, it’s more like:“Aaaaand bullet struck him. OH LOOK AT THE NICE CEILING!”. he just looked up 90° in an instant.

So at this point, maybe I’m confused about lag. Is lag generally for all the players in the match or is it possible for only one person be experiencing it?

One person can lag. They are a pain to shoot.

Usually lags come from one or more persons with a bad connection or a flaw… It’s just unnatural when people seem to use this to gain advantages. Usually lags just make you die more often… Btw: I would be in for a nice, old school “justice league”!

It’s possible for only one person to experience the effects of lag.

If the host is lagging, then everyone will have problems.

If one person is lagging, then they will suffer from the majority of the issues. Other players may experience oddities when around the lagger, if the host is trusting the lagger’s data more than it should. (The tendency of a host to rely on a client’s data rather than its own is known as “client trust”. This makes the experience more bearable for clients, but can cause oddities between two clients if one of them is lagging.)
