Rebuilding HALO=Joining Forces

So as we all know, some of the HALO community has split since REACH. We have people like the Bungie Purists, who despise every bit of change to HALO because Bungie isn’t in charge. And then we have the 343 Patriots, who defend every bit of change after Bungie left. I tend to avoid being either and just play every HALO game siamotainously every day since HALO 2 in 2006. But now, when it comes to the fact that people are calling out other people for not being on their side and changing sides, this is where we (The HALO “Community”) get toxic. There are many people out there that make great quality content from REQ showcases to REQ weapons showcases. But when one of the YTbers says something that is negative like “HALO is dead” or positive like “343 thx”, is it really necessary to attack that person!? I can’t really explain as well as UH so I leave them to give a better statement than mine about the people of HALO who are locked in a stupid Civil War.

Is HALO dead? NO! Are we in trouble? YES!

Fletch, take it over.

Put into a post what I’ve been saying all along.

Yep, I hope people realize choosing sides is not the way a community should work.

I doubt people (including myself) are going to change their opinions about which interpretation of Halo is better. I firmly believe Bungie’s Halo is better than 343’s, and while Halo 5’s gameplay isn’t all that bad, it is far from what Halo used to be.

Bungie’s halo is better but halo 5 is good

Let’s just hope we get a Halo 3 anniversary.

It’s perfectly cool to prefer which halo you liked better, I do disagree with this “fanboy warfare” thing that goes on however. We’re all pro halo in the end. Disregarding ones view on what he thinks is better mine won’t help anything. I loved the originals, I love the newer ones too, I honestly could care less if people think 343 is killing halo as that then means they’re not really looking into it very well. Bungie themselves had some -Yoink- ups at the end of their reign and they too had issues throughout it. In the end, both support/supported halo and they put their passion into the franchise. The only difference is each have their own goals and views on what should be done.

I also don’t think the community is entirely what the issue is with halo, h2 and h3 community acted just like this as wel, it’s nothing new necessarily. There’s a multitude of things that can be hurting the franchise. Could be quality lacking launch, certain features in the game that are disliked, bad marketing, gaming market changes, the average gamers mindset changing, ect ect. Point is, no one can say with 100% certainty that “this is killing halo, or that that and that is the issue” as it’s all speculation for now.

I’m sure Fatskinny man will have some philosophy for this but, we are on a forums about a game thats is a red vs blue so expect the topics to be red vs blue, the fact that we have die-hards on each side doesn’t make that community toxic, only the ones that flame and rage about one side or another without putting in any type of solution or constructive feedback. You can have someone say bungie did it better and then go on to say this is why and I think 343 should do this without being hateful they might have a good idea that would help the game each dev brought good things and bad things to the table.

I barely noticed my grammar error here, what I meant to say is There are many people out there that make great quality content from REQ weapon showcases to custom maps and lore.

This is a good point, we’ll probably never find out what is “killing” HALO even after the franchise ends.

Battles of ideas, of wills, of intransigent opinions, are what the internet was built for. The anonymity that comes with it ensures that there will be a fair amount of exaggeration, hyperbole, and melodrama. You can’t stop someone from feeling passionate about whatever it is they feel passionate about. And you most certainly can’t regulate the ways in which they choose to express those passions. It’s sad that some of it degenerates into name-calling, but that’s inevitable when two immovable objects try to occupy the same space. It’s unsavory and unpleasant to experience, but try to remember that passion is nonetheless at the root of it all. And referring to it as a “civil war” is a perfect example of how you can unwittingly buy into it. It’s differences of opinion ocassionally puncuated by disagreement and disagreeable dialogue, but it’s hardly a civil war.
