Rebels.

I have not heard much of them, but I know they exist. I think they might have more relevance in Halo 5 instead of 4. I just want more factions than two, it would be great to add as much sides as they can to the story. It would keep Halo from turning two- dimensional. We could see why they are rebelling and why we should care, and maybe even have rouge marines, ODST’s, or even Spartans joining the rebellion. Rebel attacks and assaults on UNSC buildings and armories or something.I feel like they are the lost chapter in the Halo universe. If someone looked at them and saw the potential in this idea, I am sure they could become a separate human faction aside from the UNSC and just as powerful.

yea like in halo wars

If Spartan Ops is received well, I hope that rebels will play a role in a second season.

(Seeing rebels on Requiem, where the first season takes place, would be highly unlikely).

Alright, but would you be able to expand on it? For example, why are they rebelling? Who is their leader? As far as I know, we at the moment have 3 factions; Humans, Covenant, and these new forerunner guys, or whatever they are. What niche would these rebels fill?

It is an interesting idea though!

Honestly, I don’t really care for the rebels. They are more like the annoying fly that buzzes by you now and then, not can’t really harm you. It’s not that I don’t like the idea of rebels, it’s just the in the halo universe they just seem so useless.

Just take a look at Mass Effect series, the Cerberus rebel group was portrayed really well, they have huge finances (Think bottomless money reserves), very high-end technology (Think not just legal but also illegal experimental tech), and have huge influence in the galaxy and yet are able to maintain also a perfect level of secrecy.

When I look at Halo’s rebels, I’m reminded of the present-day rebels, hiding out somewhere, outdated equipment, etc. Sure it’s easier to connect to them because it’s realistic and all, but that still doesn’t change the fact that they’re weak and cannot be considered a faction that can rival the UNSC, unlike Cerberus and the Alliance in Mass Effect.

If portrayed and executed well they could be deadly and pose a new threat.

Honestly it’s kind of a shame that they have never really been featured in the main games. Spartan Ops I think would be a perfect way to get into that if SOps gets multiple seasons.

It is kind of weird they haven’t talked about the UNSC rebels yet, I mean they may not be as fun to fight as the covenant but they definitely belong in the universe just as much as the rebel coveys do.

Another thing they’ll probably bring back is the flood, I mean sure they weren’t all that fun to play against but you can’t blame that on them. I think bungie were mostly responsible for making the flood as unentertaining as they were. In halo wars you’ll see all kinds of interesting flood forms but in the rest of the games you don’t see even half of the different types of flood that exist.

I’m perfectly fine with them never having the flood in another halo game again but if they do they had better treat them with as much care as they are say the prometheans.
