Reasons why I believe Halo 5 is bad.

Halo has always been one of my favourite games over the years, but recently it’s leaps from one of my most loved series to one of the most loathed.

Halo 5 has made a few decent innovations, like the thrust dodge, Spartan charge, and clamber feature, but also has numerous faults.

  1. The campaign was lack lustre and ended with a cliff hanger, which is never okay in a video game. You play as Master Chief for about maybe 30% of the time and Locke for about 70%, except you can’t feel any difference between the two characters, which makes me wonder why even bother making two playable characters in the first place?

  2. The game was markets to be an epic showdown between Master Chief, now a rouge solider, and Locke, an unknown character. This was all done with awesome promo trailers and the # HuntTheTruth, but the actual game didn’t have anything close to what it was marketed as, except for one short fight sequence mid game. This left me feeling kinda cheated out of what I was promised in the trailers.

  3. The multiplayer is a complete miss. The spawning is garbage most of the time and needs way more work. The gameplay variety is almost non exist. The radar system doesn’t work unless the other person is literally right in front of you. A lot of the time the weapons don’t register the hits correctly. Lag is awful, discounting you randomly at times. The ranking system is far too complex and makes close to no sense. A lot of the time if you are playing solo and join matchmaking you end up paired with others who don’t at all match your skill level.

  4. Customization, which use to be one of the best aspects of halo, doesn’t exist anymore. It’s basic and uncreative.

  5. The file browser doesn’t exist anymore, which makes no sense with forge, added in after the initial release.

  6. Micro transactions are evil and should never exist in a full retail game.

  7. The REQ system is random and ridiculous and should be replaced with an actual reward system. It’s honestly just a pointless system designed to reinforce the micro transactions.

I believe that for the listed reasons that Halo 5 isn’t very good at all and that 343 needs to fix the game and make it better. Considering their previous blunder with Halo 4 I would think that they would actually make an effort to make a decent Halo.

Now before all the die hard Halo 5 fanboys come running and screaming in defence. I love the Halo franchise. The reason I’m making this post is because I love Halo and I want the franchise to be a great as it use to be. The Halo franchise is becoming worse and worse with every instalment, i believe that the franchise needs to be reworked and become something worth while again.

I swear to god I’ve read this thread before.

I agree on all points but the Spartan Charge. I hate the Spartan Charge.

I kidna really disagree with any of this. The game was marketed completely differently than what was portrayed, the multiplayer boils down to pistol-play in arena and somewhat randomness in Warzone, customization is flat which is ironic since they did so much to make money off of it through reqs, and having us wait this long for any game-modes is just wrong.

You say the campaign is bad because it ended in a cliff hanger. Have you played Halo 2? There are different playable characters so we can see the events from two different POVs. Halo has never been a very character driven game, it’s always been story driven.

The multiplayer for Halo 5 is probably the best in the series. I disagree with the fact the spawns are bad and the weapon balance with ar pistol spawns adds diversity that was never in past games. I also don’t experience the lag and disconnects.

People complain about REQs and microtransaction but what is bad about them? It really isn’t that random if you use the silver pack method to unlock all rares and then golds you will unlock things by rarity for the most part. Would you prefer unlocking armors by level and having to be high 100s to get mythics? It would take longer and people would still complain. I don’t see a problem with microtransactions because it isn’t hard to unlock things without paying. I can get multiple gold packs a day just from playing a few hours.

Past Halo games multiplayer boiled down to br-play in arena…

I also don’t see how they are making us wait for new gamemodes. It’s not like they have all these new gamemodes completed and are waiting to release them.

Everyones seen this thread before because for 1, 343 need to be told our opinions all the time before it sinks into their money grubbing heads, 2, people has a right to voice their view, 3, A loved franchised has slipped and community is saying “Stop”

Your reasons are all valid, however I can still enjoy playing warzone several hours on a day off… arena not really anymore (BTB if anything)

Except for the fact that the game-modes are not new, and have been around for about ten years, and on top of that, 343i has been using the ‘free updates’ as a guise to play catch-up to the franchise’s predecessors. Five months for Grifball and Fiesta? Infection still pending? No thanks, mate.

Half of this is opinion, apart from spawns I really like Halo 5s multiplayer. Halo 4 was a massive turn off for me and Halo 5 resolved almost all the issues I had with that game, if it remained true to the past Halos content rise it would be the best Halo ever without question.
