Reasons for Love/Hate of Reach & why I love reach

I love reach because I bought the 360 with reach in it so it was my first game on my first console and I’ll never forget the feeling the soundtrack in the intro gave the first time you hear it reach was the best game with the best music the best campaign and by far the most memorable for those who played it what amazes me is its community is either 100% love for reach or 100% hate and most of the ones who hate it compared it to other halos or never really played but reach was a game poorly timed for realese because most original halo fans where beginning their lives and didint have time to play reach which made it a perfect bridge game for new players because story wise was first and made newer halo fans like myself more interested in the lore and grew a deeper connection to the game for example when reach came out I reached General rank then lost my account I made another reached brigider and almost general my xbox started having issues I bought an elite 360 forgot my accounts email stuff fought a year to get it back but couldn’t that account died with my xbox I made a third on the elite and reached one rank below brigider and ported it to the xbox one i lost my progress in reach kept going I’m a captain now I will always love reach because I’ve bonded with it I had the most progress on reach then any of the other games progress and kept going back to get my things back and I’ve met most of my best online friends from reach and I have a picture on my newest accounts reach file share with my original accounts character that’s been passed forward through 4 or 5 file share transfers and it the only thing left of my first account that picture is so old and I somehow still have it I also have my original reach disc which still works as well as when I got it. If any other reach fans have their memories from reach share it here also the reason I put this in halo 5’s forum is because MOR is coming and the forms are going crazy about reach things like why do people care about the falcon why people do this is to put the argument to rest and tell about other memories from reach

Punctuation and paragraphs please.

I did like reach, sprint was a bit of a mistake but invasion was such a great game. It’s a shame the population is so low otherwise I would be playing it instead of H5. I liked the skyboxes and the campaign too, it was fun and different in a similar way to ODST. It’s a shame that H4 and H5 took the mechanics from it (sprint) instead of leaving it as a different game with mechanics that are separate from the main series.

I played it alot, but I never really liked it, it just wasn’t very fun and I’m not even sure why. I just remember me and my friends going back to H3 after awhile cause we were sick of it.

Also I think this thread belongs in the Reach forums, this has nothing to do with H5

I feel different about the Sprint mechanics I like the mobility they’ve added if they could make a hybrid game with reach’s story & plyability (sandboxy), ODST’s firefight and freeroam exploring, halo 5’s new mechanics, halo 2’s humor, halo 4’s character development halo 3’s sence of action and urgency & halo ones revolutionary impact would make it the best game but what game devs really need to learn is to give people options to do whatever you want like ware a scout shoulder with a gunginir shoulder or make our own color patterns stack color patterns from other armors, where to types of armor to make new armor, Mod, you name it we need options to make the game fun and new because of what the community adds to the game not the developers constantly refreshing it for us the game can’t grow the its like a tree in a pot it’s roots can’t grow we need a halo game that’s not suffocated by creativity walls

reach was fun, i played it a lot. but it had a lot of terrible things in it and was the worst halo matchmaking in the franchise.
imo

The matchmaking wasent what made it the best that was its weakest point and why i said they should make a hybrid game

It’s my favorite art style. The colors are a lot more vibrant. I also liked the campaign. Hated armor lock, the maps were the worst in all of Halo, and bloom. Only hated bloom because it rewarded spammers with lucky shots to the head.

Posted this in a similar thread, so I’m just going to repost it for this thread.

I was rather disappointed with it. Had a lackluster campaign and multiplayer. Firefight wasn’t bad, and forge was pretty well made and had great functions, which lead to fun custom games. However, it gets a 6/10 in my books, and I would pass it. The other Halo titles are much better.

Halo Reach is the best FPS Halo to date.

Campaign was out of bounds in terms of canon but it hit home in terms of the catastrophic blow the fall of reach was. The armor design and just overall feel was grim, just what a Halo title needed aside from H2. Customization was at it’s peak in Halo Reach, minor attachments that actually can be seen in combat, color schemes that looked parallel to the armor being placed on it. Armor effects were greatly put in place in Halo: Reach, with more variety, it wasn’t about the armor much anymore. You could purchase the armors you wanted with in game EXP (cR), you chose how you wanted to look like early on, spartan. Seriously, you had your own spartan in the cutscenes, that’s amazing. None of this “content in the trailers that weren’t in the game” nonsense. You were Noble 6.

Customs was and still is a big part of the player base on Halo: Reach, Infection is amazing (aside from Ghosts) and camping was always discouraged. Firefight was a huge playground for grinding individuals and PvE (If I’m correct, thanks Destiny) players alike.

The DLC maps were amazing, nothing short IMO, especially loved the anniversary maps. Gun play was solid and didn’t feel like you were playing with toy guns, Needle Rifle was not the gun to mess with :)! Maps were great and community made maps were put into place for multiple gamemodes, including invasion for those who wanted more content. (That’s in place now for H5 but here’s the kicker) Voting system.

Matchmaking, it’s always easy to find a game, of course now it may be more centralized to a few playlists but it’s a great experience nonetheless. Preferences were set in place and an individual mute option was somethig minute at the time but such a great implementation. Party members were shown in the pre-game lobby so individuals could see if they were facing randoms or not.

Armor abilities were a step in the in the right direction because it still brought players a role to play in-game. If they wanted to have a jet pack they’d have to sacrifice sprint and so on. Sprint was limited. Armor lock was just horrid.

Mechanics set in place were toned down (bloom and such) to cater to more competitive players and a dedicated MLG playlist was set in place. Also Arena was a plus!

Although rankings meant nothing to an individual’s skill, it was just rewarding to have that after screen showing the newest achievement to the respective player. Heck, it even SHINED for everyone else to see. If only Noble was the Max Rank… Speaking of Max Rank, HAUNTED HELMET to reward those who reached max rank. (thanks, grifball amirite? no? ok.)

Mechanical Arms.

Vehicles were awesome in Reach and nothing felt too overpowering in my opinion.

Easter eggs made campaign fun!
