Didn’t wanna spoil it, maybe I’m just in denial for loss but as soon as the games was over and even playing it I thought of about 1000 ways/reasons for her to not die and I even feel like turning some of them into stories, maybe i’ll get hired as a writer lol

When She first tells the chief about her issues, she basically tells the Chief shes a goner and he will have to accept it, and I thought she might die but then she says she is the only AI that was ever based on human tissue so she might be able to be saved, and Chief promises to get her back to Halsey, THATS A CHIEF PROMISE MAN!

And basically the rest of the game is reasons/excuses for her to live.

AM I THE ONLY ONE that thought that she was going to be made into a real person by the composer?

After beating it I’m thinking Dr Halsey will find all the pieces of her in the wreckage or something because she knows so much about the Foreruner, Didact and stuff that nobody else does from being in its computers. (that will be Halseys excuse anyway). Then call the Chief in and hand him a chip and tells him to trust her (which he would being Halsey) and it winds up being Cortana.

Or the composer could of copied her when it fried every one else and they could remake her back from that point.

And when the pillar she was in at the end was destroyed it blew up in a flash of sparkles right? Didn’t she say that flash was a data purge? That could go somewhere?

Even when I was reading the books years ago I always thought Cortana was powerful enough or Halsey smart enough to find a solution to rampantsy.

I also don’t like how Cortana spend 4 years and 7 months of her “life” floating in a ship.

I also always thought that Halsey could make another Cortana model and put her old memories on to the new one just to get rid of all the useless proses going on in her but keeping her memories. Like putting your hard drive data in a new computer but after Cortana freaking out about being replaced its HER or NO AI for the Chief. That was like the saddest thing ever.

Also they kept saying to get her back to Halsey and they got all the way to Earth and didn’t make it??? I mean come on…

Even in the books when she was inserted into halo for the first time she freaked out cuz of all the info and even in to First Strike Chief thought she was acting weird, then when she had to battle a covenant AI she got a little weird and last and most obviously Halo 3 when the grave mind messed her up and Chief saved her, but none of this was ever explained, I thought it would go somewhere as a new problem, having to get Halsey to fix her or something but it was never really explained out just brushed under the rug.

Cortana is almost more Important than Earth, what about the rest of the human planets?.. Chief would be dead many (I could add them up, mine field and Long Sword missile in first test onward, even initiating the jump to halo from reach and discovering halo was all her) times over if not for her.

Have to agree, i’m shocked and depressed that Cortana is gone. However maybe she’ll be back, maybe not.

I really hope she comes back somehow, but if she doesn’t I don’t know how the chief will handle it (Or I for that matter D: )

I doubt the Librarian sent her back to Chief without making a permanent copy. Freyja’s sake, she planned for Halsey to make her!

Halo Waypoint forums is apparently still in the first stage of grief. Denial.

Then they will get angry at 343i for letting Cortana die. After that, they will bargain for 343i to bring her back. Then after a bout of depression, they will finally accept it.

I believe Chief will discover some sort of record from the Librarian detailing how to make Cortana flesh to restore her. While I don’t believe it will happen in Halo 5, I do believe it will happen in Halo 6.

I get the feeling that somehow this will be a love story at the end of this saga. Remember what Cortana said about one being human and the other machine.

Yeah, this is very thought through, and I gotta agree.
Cortana will probably come back, as Halsey will probably find some old data banks withing that forerunner ship, considering i strongly doubt a nuke would blew every single bit of a BIG LARGE -Yoinking!- FORERUNNER SHIP! That ship was built for intergalactic war if I’m not wrong, and considering most ships/air-planes even from today contain extremely reinforced data-banks whom record everything that’s going on inside.

As I no doubt believe there will come more Halo games where John gotta destroy the rest of the rings.
…And Halo games without Cortana? No. Just no.

That’s not what the description of the Epilogue scene says in the Mission Select screen. It says Cortana died.

Cortana is Cortana. I don’t think even having her copied would not be, in essence, be the same one that we have come to grow up with. The fact that she is gone is hard for us, even me. I have’nt felt this depressed since Johnson’s death.

Well yes, to everyone including Cheif she is dead to them and to us, in halo 4.

Still another two games to go…

Same man, couldn’t believe it happened. It’s having an impact on a lot of us including John.

Hopefully they find away to bring her back without copying her, I couldn’t imagine playing another Halo without Cortana or Chief.

No No, she was sad about Dr. Halsey making a new “Cortana” model from her brain from scratch. It would be like identical twins raised in different places they wouldn’t be the same. I addressed this in my original post as maybe being able to replace some of her memories (she’s still a digital thing) but after playing Halo 4 this can’t happen, maybe the second part somehow but it is to sad for me to think about.

What we are talking about as a “COPY” is from the Forerunner or the Composer or getting her back from inside the Didacts ship, she would just need to be filled in on what happened in the last couple missions from Halo 4 at worst, maybe even by the Chiefs visor cam, but she would still very much be the same Cortana, even in the stages of rampantcy. Like I said she is digital code once on something unless erased and replaced with new data the data is still there.

I mean she is powerful enough to manifest her self in reality and stop a nuke come on lol. Actually I’m just in love with her bring her back ;(, and don’t tell John he doesn’t seem like the type to share haha.

Read the first three books, that were written even before Halo 2 but like I said that is a different story.

I keep Imagining the soft sigh of “Chieeffffffff” she would let out if they were re-united and how he would not say anything even though he should be jumping up and down with joy, until Cortana analogized for what she did and he would just reply with “It’s ok” or “It’s alright” or how she did what she had to and that he would of done the same and leave it at that and they would continue on.

Seriously someone from the story board writers better read this and see how much we care, I’m willing to move if they want to hire me as a writer, I got way more than this lol…

What ever they do they better not try to give him a new AI… unless Halsey can think of something really clever, I feel like she is the only one that understands.
