Reasons Chief Should NOT Die

Post here!

  1. Almost all the Halo games with Chief made more sales. More sales = more money for 343/Microsoft

  2. He didn’t choose to become a Spartan, and forcing him into this just seems…wrong

  3. Every Halo fan I know loves him. In fact, some love him so much that the games they buy that are Halo have to have Chief in them or they won’t buy it.

  4. Look at how excited all the fans were at Halo 4’s teaser trailer.

  5. All the people saying him dieing would be heroic and noble will be a lot sadder than they originally thought.

  1. Bad example. They would ruin everything Halo is for a few extra bucks. Bottom line: Never use money as an example when it comes to Microsoft.

  2. None of the other Spartans (Aside from the IVs) chose to be Spartans, yet they all died too.

  3. Their wierdos…

  4. Every Halo fan gets excited for a new Halo game. Not much more to say.

  5. Debatable…But, probably true. I can still deal.

well personally i think the arbiter was more epic than chief in halo 2 but out of the topic wich was the MAIN character of halo 2?

  1. It will still be 343 making the games, and Im not talking crappy quality games, I mean top-notch Halo 4 development time games. And I’m just saying, it will make a lot more sales, leading to more players, leading to easier matchmaking.

  2. It wouldn’t be AS heroic however, considering he is kinda forced into this, and also the Spartans dying too…that is probably why the other Spartans aren’t the main character. Not really but still…

  3. They think your weird too.

  4. They get more excited for MC ones. Take a vote.

  5. 7rue, but not everyone can.

> well personally i think the arbiter was more epic than chief in halo 2 but out of the topic wich was the MAIN character of halo 2?

Which one was? The Chief. Bungie just wanted to show how things were going to shape up to an alliance, as otherwise, you would not have none about the brute fission.

  1. Doubtful. Microsoft can make 343i do pretty much anything they want. And more players doesn’t always make finding a good match easier. It can harm the process sometimes. You need a balance. (Try finding a decent match on Reach when it’s population hits 10k.)

  2. Debatable.

  3. They don’t even know I exist. You spelled “You’re” wrong.

  4. My point still stands.

  5. If people can’t “deal” with the death of an over-used character in a video game, they have issues.

  1. Halo Reaches matchmaking is rarely good. Also, Microsoft CAN do that, but look at Halo 4. Still looking good!

  2. It is.

  3. I’m sorry I spelled “you’re” wrong…but I would rather like being able to post stuff quickly without going back over it on the internet. Especially 1 word.

  4. They may get excited for all Halo games, but the ones they get more excited for lead to more sales generally.

  5. They can deal with it. They may just move onto a different game, as the ones without Chief either A. Don’t have the best gameplay in most opinions (Halo 3 ODST) and B. May not have the best story in most others. (Halo Reach)

I agree people are excited for a new Halo game no matter what, but Chief has been in almost every Halo, but something has to end it but then at the same time there is still so much more to be explained through out the games and etc.

It is…interesting. Considering how many games he is in. I just think Halo will go downhill after he dies. I would hate to see that though.

I posted this on the other side of the coin thread here: I think the chief should get his own cryptum for eternity. He would finally be at peace, with no chance of a sequel, its glorifying, and he wouldnt have to die alienating a whole lot of fans in the process. This seems to me the only possible solution to appease everyone, he is neither dead nor alive really but definitely at peace something I think we all can agree would be a suitable end to MC. He would almost be elevated to a god status, suitable for the hero he is to humanity now.

While I would like to see him stay, I would settle for that.

Me too but itd be hard to end halo like that, always be room for sequels. Besides, old age would eventually take him like any other normal human

Still, he isn’t that old if I remember correctly. He got shots that gave him the body of a 20 yr old or something when he wasn’t that old.

  1. Agreed. Agreed. Agreed.

  2. 7rue.

  3. It’s kay. I was a grammar na…You know…from birth.

  4. True. But if they stretch Chief’s story out too much, he could become another story that falls to cheap ideas and low creativity due to Microsoft thinking “Chief = big bucks no matter what!!!” and I think some fans love Chief too much to not let that happen.

  5. I hope so. Probably. True and True.

  1. I agree too.

  2. 7rue again.

  3. lol

  4. Just dying would be low creativity too however. I just think he should A. Be able to go back to a normal life which would be a story filled with hope, and overall uplifting. I mean, after all he has gone through, it will be nice to see him get what he deserves. OR B. I would settle for the cryptum idea.

5.I wouldn’t mind as much as long as they make more Halo games with the same great story and amazing gameplay.

Who knows how old he is now after all the enhancements and extended cryo. Doesnt matter, age eventually wins is all i was saying

Very true.

I wouldn’t mind seeing the Chief be retired, but see him have a heroic death would be epic.

  1. Because Spartans have been misrepresented in nearly all Halo games. It’s a travesty.

-Friendly AI last longer than me
-friendly AI can lock-on to infantry with their rockets and control their rocket hog firing rate
-enemies can push against heavy scenery and move them a little
-trying to push friendly AI takes forever
-melee barely has any force except when appropriate skulls are turned on (Cowbell, Sputnik)
-getting pushed easily by Moa
-Reach fall damage

With skulls on, especially in H2, I feel more powerful.

With Reach’s infinite armor lock glitch, I finally feel like a Spartan when I run into vehicles and bipeds.

You left out the fact that chief is chief. Which means he can’t die.
