[since when did flag tossing become the golden staple of competitive CTF? that is YOUR viewpoint not the entire competitive communities. You seem to move pretty fast while holding the flag in halo 4 and it will take skill to guard your flag with only a magnum when your enemies are firing BR’s and DMR’s at you. Team work will still play a huge part this could work 10x better than how they used to run flags for all you know.
Remember 343i has been talking to mlg alot. Give it a chance.]
I can see how the outraging so called competitive children on this forum got owned
Now that you can’t flag juggle, your team is really going to have to help defend you as you’re moving. I’ll wait for more feedback… I can’t place my feelings about it at the moment.
Also with that, people who pick up the flag will need to be committed to it. Hopefully that’ll have positive effects, meaning people who don’t like carrying the flag won’t pick it up. But I can also imagine the trolls who pick it up and do stupid stuff, and their teamates can’t do anything about it unless they teamkill.

In no way should you defend such a diabolical decision, i can only hope that was stockpile or something, in stockpile you can’t drop the flag you carry, i’m pretty sure in vanilla default “classic” ctf you will, remember there are many different types of CTF this was probably just 1 of them.
While I’m still undecided as to whether or not I like this change, flag juggling was never my thing either. CTF requires a whole different kind of strategy now, including possibly more teamwork needed.
You now have to ask yourself “Do I have teammates near me that can cover me when I grab this flag, or could I possibly run it by myself with the magnum?” It’s no longer grab it and get out, you now have to plan your attack and teamwork.
I’ll have to wait and hear more info before I make a final decision, though.
I, AS A HUGELY COMPETETIVE HALO PLAYER, dgaf. it seemed like you kept base movement speed. and since youre not defenseless who cares? hahaha people really wanna juggle the flag that badly? This moves in the direction of team based shooter as you will always have that “im not picking up any power weapons cause im the flag holder” teammate
If i see the flag im picking it up cause I wanna feel badass running through hammering people with my magnum while I carry the flag onto ever lasting salvation.
> Lol I’ll give it go, but flag tossing is not the problem. I don’t care about juggling anymore since we have regular base speed.
>
> The problem is not being allowed to stop a flag period, especially if you have power weapons, then you are done for and not as useful as you could be.
Well, I guess thats where good team communication comes in.
If you have a power weapon or are good at defending, tell your teamates to grab the flag.
Hopefully this will encourage teamwork… hopefully.

The only “children” on here are the ones that defend 343 no matter what the story or decision. It’s obvious to anyone that has ever played Halo that this is a bad decision. I’m not saying it won’t take skill (But if you hated competitive gameplay so much, you wouldn’t care about that, right? But you’re happy to use it as an argument against the competitive community…another example of simply clueless thinking to ensure you can defend 343 in any way you can) and I’m not saying it won’t work better than we might think. I’m saying that it’s a poor decision.
Dropping the flag and knowing when to drop the flag is a vital piece of individual skill in CTF games - I’ve spent many a time literally laughing at people who feel the need to hold onto the flag and try and melee you form 20 feet instead of dropping it and shooting you/taking cover whilst you take them out with ease.
Now obviously it goes into more depth than that, but it’s thing such as this that separate people’s skill levels. 343 just seem to be on a ridiculous crusade against people who are good at the game by trying to nerf anything that might make them better than other players, or giving other players the same thinking ability by just pressing a button.

Well if the reason they won’t pick up the flag is because they can’t juggle it or some other nonsense, then the problem lays with them, not the game.
I do not think that you cannot drop is bad. Plus, I pretty sure you can have it set on or off in custom games and they will have it set to able to drop in the more classic playlists.
