Reason why Halo isn't doing so well.

If you think about it, when Halo CE came out, everyone loved it because it was different. It was an original idea in a new video game era with the release of the Xbox. It was good enough for people to ask for a sequel.

Now everyone loved halo 2 because it was a sequel. Then with the Xbox 360, Halo 3 defined Xbox with its all new game and is still known as a huge hit. But now with out a new Xbox or some new genre around the corner, Bungie kept going with ODST, which was not bad considering the firefight original experience.

But then they dropped the bomb when they ran out of time. When there was no new xbox, and zombies were becoming a huge hit, Bungie didnt stop with halo quite yet. They made a decision that would make or break them, and boy did it smash them. Reach did flunk, and though they tried to fix it, they knew there was no hoice but to give up.

Now 343i kicks in, and release Halo CEA which I loved. It was great to be able to play the original Halo with achievements and graphics updated. This was a good start from my point( please reply with your review about CEA because I don’t know what people said ) ,I had much hope for Halo 4,5, and 6.

But once again without the proper genre or society, Halo 4 didn’t quite make it. As for me, I love Halo 4, I won’t say it was the best Halo but is nowhere near the worst. Technically, you could say there was no bad Halo, they were good at the time but have lost their originality.

So all in all, Halo didn’t fail, Bungie didn’t fail, 343i didn’t fail. Society changed and failed to see an amazing game such as this.

I really think this is something to be read.

I agree with a lot of what you are saying, but

“Everyone” hated Halo 2 also. Just like how everyone hates on Halo 4.

Then the same thing happend for 3, and Reach.

“Everyone” hates the current game, and goes back to praise the past ones.

> Reach did flunk, and though they tried to fix it, they knew there was no hoice but to give up.

Reach didn’t flunk, it was a success regardless of the people on the forums that like to shout it wasn’t.

Bungie didn’t fix anything, their contract had ended and they couldn’t waste time and resources on something that didn’t belong to them. 343i was the group that made the controversal title update.

This is what an open minded person is like. Kind of lacking around the community lately. Everybody just started concentrating too much on small details of the game and drowned themselves in it and forgot how fun the game really is.

Halo CEA is one of my favorites. I wish they would’ve kept the classic multiplayer though, but the anniversary playlist is still extremely close.

If you guys want a classic Halo experience, you must buy this game.

  1. Liking halo 4 =/= open minded, listening to reason = open minded.

  2. Consider that some people genuinely dislike halo 4 and have no fun with it at all?

There is no bad Halo.

Agreed, Halo 4 is completely missing that classic experience

So…

Bad maps (very few 4v4 maps)
Random Ordnance
Complex
Join in Progress
Regicide
Complex
No ranking system
Slow kill times
Lack of Custom Options

…and Complex are all just me not having an open mind.

Cool, just checking.

I have to agree with this entire thread. Halo CE was so big because there really wasnt a FPS on a video game system that worked well. Every game in the Halo series excluding Halo Wars was a legit Halo game that stayed true to the core with minor improvements. The most exciting Halo game to me is going to be Halo 5. Most likely it will be on the new Xbox and it should be more comparable to Halo 3 because its the same type of setting. A new game on a next gen console. just how im thinking

You gotta remember that Halos genre is coming to a close. Todays top genre is zombies and killing. No objective. Halo is still keeping whats left of that core.

This is exactly why Halo needed someone brave enough to make changes. All the changes are not going to go over well, as that is the nature of change. Still you must try. There is no standing still in life; you are either going forward or backwards. Halo had to evolve because it got stale. Adapt or die. This will happen to Call of Duty soon, if it isn’t already. The competitive community complains about the changes but they are the minority in every gaming community. If the masses are not pleased competitive gamers will not have anything to complain about. Unless of course, each of these so called competitive gamers wants to buy 1000 copies of the games.

You played Reach, right?

If Halo 3 was still popular and bungie was still around I would still be playing it and talking about it.

Five years later I’m still playing TF2 with basically the same loadouts and same people.

Halo has evolved in every game up to this point. Subtle but significant changes that re-invent the core gameplay. Dual wielding. Boarding Vehicles. Mounted Turrets. Equipment. Forge. File Share. Infection.

The thing is though, once you deviate too far from the core you are left with something completely foreign to the playerbase. This is why Halo 4 has had such poor reception.

There is no bad halo, reach had too much of what halo used and shouldve been. But in the wrong time. It was not time for reach to be released.

Halo Reach was like Halo 1 with a few more guns and Armor Abilities. I don’t understand why it received so much hate.

Halo 2 was far and away the greatest multiplayer game ever. Period. That said, Halo 4 has been the best of the franchise since, as it has taken the things that broke Reach, fixed them (mostly), and then added some new (to Halo) multiplayer options that have, honestly, kept it kind of fresh (and very fun) for me.

Thank you 343i for ditching Armor Lock.

When Halo 5 is out people will bash it and praise Halo 4, just look at Reach. Now that 4 is out some people are saying Reach was good when compared to this, and the same will happen with Halo 5. It’s just how some people work. You will never get a game hardly anymore where there is no negatives on the forums.

Doubt it.

The people you see praising reach genuinely like reach. I never hated it.

And yet I see people bash reach every day around here.

No, these are all just reasons to excuse Halo 4 from being a bad game.
