THINK people. It has NOTHING to do with the quality of the game, which is high.
Back in Halo 3’s glory days, CoD4 was Halo’s only real competition. Gears was JUST getting off the ground. There were much, MUCH fewer quality offerings on Xbox Live back then.
It has NOTHING to do with the lack of a ranking system, or catering to casuals.
Gamers have more options, and no longer play only ONE game whenever they play games.
I fully expect this to be buried by further whining and hatred.

You have a community of competitive people. They inherently do not like second place. Plus one Population thread at a time on the board. Spamming the fine wine and cheese takes it’s toll on the palette.
People should also consider the fact that Xbox is at war for customers with The PS3, Wii (BAHAHAHAHAHA)- U (oh), The I-Phone Genre (Android and such), PC Gaming, Hand Held Gaming and more than I can come up with in a single go.
We have to Remember that Halo Ce and 2 were FRESH, something new that seem to mold well with people during it’s time. Halo 3 was the Opening of the X-box 360, Cool, sleek and awesome for it’s tme. Halo 3: ODST added lore to Halo, and gave us all the map packs for Halo 3. Halo: Reach, Most people were already on their second console, some on their fith or even more.
After battling over Reach and Armor Abilities for what seemed to be an eternity, people start deciding to swap for gaming style, especially when they hear PC gaming is vastly superiorn or thier Apps are an easier source of pleasure.
Now it’s 2012, and there’s Technology that even the common guy/girl knows is better.
it’s not just the fact that Halo 4 has bad aspects, the console is just extremely outdated.
