Proof that people being banned are racists and not just using words that offend your sensibilities. Words have no meaning without context and banning words does nothing but allow them to fester and gain power. How is it your generation is so willing to give up freedoms for a sense of security and to never be offended. I don’t like “racists” as much as I don’t like people taking away “freedom” for the sake of feelings. Has nothing to do with “racists” as your over simplified mind has come to assume. But hey you know what they say when you assume something there smart guy.

Many people are from countries that have not won or fought a war or struggled in decades due to being carried by bigger countries like Russia or the US, or they live in a dictatorship and cannot understand the concept of fighting for rights or freedom, and they do not even have their own freedom to believe or think whatever they want, so these overly strict crackdowns on thoughts and beliefs are normal to them, its sad, but its the reality we live in, and unfortunately, these people can make up the majority of specific online communities. I do agree with you OP and hope that 343 really tries to be more fair and reasonable with any kind of punishments they dish out to players over speech or political/religious beliefs.

As a though experiment, is every black person from the city I grew up that called every single person including white people the N word a racist for using that word? They themselves are black, they use the word as a form of endearment and have no “institutional” power (going by the lefts definition here)
so how could they be considered racists? Yet they would be banned for using a word that is part of their culture because some white guy says it’s racist. Seems like you anti racists are a bit on the racist side to me.

I think the point OP is trying to make is that he is worried that with today’s cancel culture the definition of what is “racist” can be anything as simple as supporting [insert political figure here], or saying they like [insert piece of media here] and that 343 might be getting a little trigger-happy with bans, I honestly think its perfectly reasonable to expect your game moderators not to ban you over little things. Its one thing to get banned for constantly typing racial slurs in all caps and being toxic, it’s another thing to just try to start a conversation with other players and socialize, only to get banned later because one of the things you brought up happened to have some far-reaching political implication that barely anyone noticed or knew about.
To be 100% honest with everyone here , I have not seen anyone in any of my matches use the team chat not even once.

This right here. There is a huge deifference between spamming the n word in chat and being banned for supporting the wrong idea. The definition of “racist” has come to include anything that offends a certain group and thus is completely inappropriate and inadequate to assume that 343 will make any judgments with context considered. And people replying to the tweet want voice chat to be monitored and restricted as well. This is completely unacceptable.

context is taken into account when it comes to bans. people aren’t going to be banned based on an algorithm scanning through every utterance of the N word, it’ll be based on players reporting someone and the devs investigating. sketch said “racist comments”, not “black people calling eachother the N word”.

LOL I know right? OP’s link had me so confused, how are they even finding “racist” people, I have not even heard anyone on mic or see anybody use the chat, it really looks like they are getting riled up over something small
Your “freedoms” go as far as the rules and guidelines and code-of conduct for Microsoft and Xbox. If you cannot adhere to those rules and cannot be civil and think it’s ok to throw racial slurs around in text and voice chat, then we don’t want you in this community and will be showing you the door.
