Im very angry, do really Halo needs
microtransactions? Is this the spirit of the game made by bungie in 2001 or just another Play-As-Service game? I want vidmaster challenges to unlock items, not 1’99$…
Halo is not COD, this Halo is the last oportunity to save the franchise
So far it’s unclear what the microtransactions are for, the only thing we’re sure about is that they’re not for lootboxes. I’m pretty sure Halo 5’s REQ packs helped fund HCS. Obviously hearing that they’ll be in the game is disappointing, unfortunately they’re bound to be in most AAA games for the foreseeable future they may just benefit the game in the long run if they continue to fund the likes of HCS
I’m not a fan of microtransactions either, but it has been announced that real-money loot boxes won’t be in Halo Infinite. So if we have microtransactions, then it won’t be so bad imo if they aren’t tied to a credit card bill. If in-game currency can only be earned through achievements and playing the game, then it really just sounds like a different version of a progression system like we had in Reach.
As long as I can earn everything reasonably. I’m not affected. I have all most everything besides a few emblems from leveling. It was more fun to earn it then buy i . So long as it remains cosmetic
Ugh people are jumping the gun on this again. 343 has already said that microtransactions would be in the game awhile ago and that they would work differently then halo 5 reqs.

i don’t think that funding HCS benefited the game itself. it benefited the competative scene. maybe generating some publicity through high price money, but i don’t see this benefiting the game in any way gameplaywise.
we should never forget, that microtransactions aren’t there for laughs and giggles. they are there to be sold, so the game must be designed to create an intresst in them. the worst case is of course the pay to win scenario, where the intresst is to stay being able to compete in the game (or already seen in some single player games, slowing the progression through XP and solving this self generated problem by selling XP boosts).
the “not so problematic” version would be skins only, but even that generates a desire to have them for some people (not all… MTs are mainly targeted at people who are willing to spend a huge amount of money either conscious or unconscious). especially young people could fall into this trap, bc they have no experience with these systems. maybe people just buy the one skin they want, but then a new one gets released and a bit later a new one. even if people only buy one at a time, this can add up to a lot of money over time (as already seen in other games… fortnites huge financial success for example)
i think infinite will have a battlepass like progression system. it can be described similar to reachs (which 343i said the progression system will be similar to). this system is also going to be implemented in MCC (acording to news updates), probably being a test run for the system (how it’s recieved, what can be improved on to keep people interested in the system).
i think the threat of halo infinite having a predatory MT system is very high. and who knows whats going to being put into the game after launch to avoid bad publicity (see: crash bandicoot racing, plants vs zombies garden warfare 2). even if 343i seems to make the right steps, we should be very careful. in the end it was 343i who desigend the REQ system in h5 (probably ordered by -Yoink!-, bc it was the time were lootboxes reigned, but who knows what -Yoink!- demands this time)

I agree with everything you wrote. Especially with what you say about HCS. I’m not interested in it, never have been and never will. Sure the HCS players get nice prize funds, but it’s at the expense of the community, many who have zero interest in it and don’t benefit gameplay wise. I’m worried about Halo Infinite, have been since the engine reveal and certain job ads that I read. It’s great they stated no paid loot crates, I’m more concerned about what they’ve not said.
