Really enjoying the new update

Yesterday was easily the most fun I’ve had with Halo 4 to date. The whole game now feels smoother and less DMR focused with the 4sk BR. The new weapon spawns are also a throwback to previous Halo games and matches seem more competitive because of the changes to CSR.

How is everyone else enjoying the update?

Good tweaks to the weapons, except for the suppressor and saw.

The saw is way to strong and the suppressor is way to weak.

However, because of all the new power weapon spawns in infinity slayer everything is even more -Yoink- than it was. Which, is a bad thing in my eyes.

I am still disappointed they couldn’t do anything about our two aim bot weapons Beam Rifle and Rail gun.

TBH I prefer having set weapons and map control being important even if it sometimes leads to a few too many power weapons. In a perfect world ordnance would be removed, or perhaps only contain OS, Damage boost and Speed boost.

Rail gun an aimbot? lol not really. Most complaints about the rail gun are about how you can hit a guy dead on and not get a kill. I think its fine, the beam rifle on the other hand does need changes. That aside I really love this update. I’ve tried the weapons and I find that the dmr isn’t underpowered and can still compete. Haven’t played too much light rifle though so I’m not sure if its OP or not. I’ve played some btb and haven’t really felt it breathing down my neck like the dmr did so I have no complaints yet. Loving 4 shot br and movement speed boost.

What changes have been made to CSR?

the weapon sqawns in infinity easily made the beginning of each match more important and hectic. It feels like Halo 3 again somewhat. There is a dash for overshield while someone else goes and gets sniper. Really had a lot of fun last night. It will take some getting use to some of the weapon changes, but I havent had a lot of time to really get a feel for what is too much or too little yet.

Yes, really. While the ranking system still isn’t at the Halo 3 level it has improved and I now actually sometimes meet people at my level.

This game is designed for beginners and the players at my level will never miss with the Rail Gun because of that. If I see a rail gun charg up, I have to try to get to cover.

I don’t know what’s going on or how, but I don’t think the update for worked for me. The BR and Carbine play just like they always did (for me anyway–I don’t know about RoF, but the BR is certainly not a 4 shot). The only difference I see is absurdly fast respawns for the absurdly high amount of vehicles.

Honestly, I love vehicles. They’re fun. They’re awesome. They’re powerful. But they’re insignificant since Reach. Stuffing the maps full of them doesn’t change the fact that with any precision weapon on the map, they won’t last 30 seconds.

In my eyes there is just to many power weapons in infinity slayer. People are gonna mock up many kills before a next power weapon spawn, to get more ordnance. Why even go for the weapons?

1 of the 3 (24 games) times I lost yesterday was on Shutout, which plays completely different from it’s counterpart Blackout in Halo 3. In Halo 3 pushing and going for the power weapons often resulted in getting an advantage. I can tell you, that on Shutout it won’t. Just stay back on S or BR3 and you will eventually win. As you kill them you are going to get better ordnances then what they are trying to get anyway.

1- The Suppressor is still awful.

2- There is still insta-spawns.

3- Increasing movement speed? Really? Was it really needed? Considering sprint
is still on?

4- With these many power weapons on map, every single match feels ludicrous,
a lot of people were complaining about Infinity Slayer feeling like Team
Fiesta, well, now it really does feels like Team Fiesta.

5- FORGE MAPS FORGE MAPS FORGE MAPS FORGE MAPS FORGE MAPS FORGE MAPS all the
freaking time. They are just disgusting to watch all the time. Grey, white,
grey, white.

In general, now you don’t even get to breathe. I don’t remember Halo 2 or 3 being like this. The only reason you people feel its closer to 2/3 is due to the 4sk BR, which is ridiculous. You don’t get to enjoy the kill, cause as soon as you land the kill the person that you just killed will respawn right away and -Yoink- you up.

For those players used to the Pre-TU settings, they will have to adapt, and its most likely to get annoyed and stop playing.

At first I was excited for these changes. But now I’m not so sure they fit on to Halo 4 as it is.

Honestly, I think this made clear that Halo 4 is off for me. Might as well wait for Halo 5, with decent built in maps for these settings.

343 Really need to sort out everything now to make Halo 5 great.

What they’ve being trying to do is a gender change surgery, which can be done, but its not the same as being born with the “right” gender.

Halo 4 was a beta for Halo 5.(Well I hope so)

PS: Don’t get me wrong I think all the weapons needed tweaks, I just think some of them weren’t right for this game.

Feels good to be kicking -Yoink- again with the BR. The light rifle is pretty good now. Kinda useful for long range maps. I haven’t tested the AR, Suppressor, Carbine, etc; yet.

@Froz- I’d be really worried for the future of Halo if people stopped playing because they had to adapt to these new settings. It shouldn’t be hard unless Halo 4/Reach was your first Halo game.

All in all besides the issue of power weapons, these are the changes long time players have been asking for.

@Pro Jvacha - CSR will now play a much bigger role in finding player matches compared to before the update.

  1. The suppressor was fine, now it’s a little underpowered
  2. Not in Pro/CTF/Extraction/Dominion/Throwdown etc
  3. Halo 4 base movement speed is horrible and sluggish, thruster pack now works and gameplay is better
  4. There’s always been power weapons galore in Infinity Slayer, there’s this thing called ordnance
  5. It’s a shame they play really well then isn’t it? I mean aesthetics over gameplay right?

I’ve pulled of an overkill in the last few days more times then I care to remember, talk about breathing space. Oh man they respawn on the other side of the map? I’m not sure but I’ll say a majority were waiting for this update. They fit perfectly. The Halo 4 beta is over finally.

I couldn’t agree more. But they just don’t feel right.

I LOVE it. I actually played 5-6 matches and never went positive, which usually I would at least one of them lol.

I had a blast. The AR is now a match for the Storm Rifle (I prefer close quarters fighting) and I love the new BR. I still like using the DMR more, however. Love that gun.

Nice improvemet 343i!

Well you do make it sound right. Although its just the way you’re bashing me that makes your reasoning better. If you’d say it gently not so much.

  1. The suppressor was not fine. Due to the more viable other weapons.

  2. I didn’t speak about any of those. Because they are ok.

  3. The speed. Sluggish? Why? Because of the strafing?

  4. Just said its worse now.

  5. Yeah, they play well, although, the built in maps ain’t bad either.(at least 6x better than reach’s)

Well I thought I would give it a chance again a couple of days ago and also when the new update came out. And people that are saying population doesn’t matter are just crazy.

All the matches I have played were all so -Yoink!- laggy it’s unbelievable. And only for that reason I don’t think I can play this game anymore despite the rest that I hate on halo 4.

And the weapon balancing is crap too

You know what, that was kinda jerk’ish of me. Sorry man, I’m on study leave. It is really good of you to reply in such a controlled manner.

I admire you (no sarcasm)

Only played three games of BTIS, but… it’s awesome! It flows better, and I love the static weapon spawns. For some reason not many people were using the plasma pistol/plasma nade combo yesterday, maybe they were checking out the changed primaries. And the new warthog/mantis turret is what it should’ve been from the start.

Haven’t played small team IS yet, but I always thought the Suppressor was the best automatic up close. You don’t look for range in an automatic.

This update is awsome and seeing that the BR and DMR are balanced rifles now is just spectacular =).
