Whose genius idea was it for this to be a potential Firefight boss? On top of damage sponging and constantly respawning hyper-accurate Prometheon soldiers with Light Rifles and Splinter Turrets, we have to deal with a Mantis boss with shields that recharge more than twice as quickly as a player’s Shields AND it’s inside a very compact base with entrances covered by the constantly respawning bullet sponges? That’s ridiculous? Oh and if course the vehicles REQ’s we called in to destroy the other three Mantis bosses are useless, and most of the team cannot spawn power weapons to take it out because the REQ’s were spent on vehicles.
Don’t take this as bashing on 343i as a whole; it isn’t. Overall I really like them, I find Halo 5 as a whole the most enjoyable game I’ve played since Halo 3, and I thought Halo 4’s story was on par with Halo 2’s (come at me). But I feel like they’re almost afraid of being perfect, because they’ll get so close and then throw a curve ball by placing Legendary and Mythic bosses into such a small area halfway through a round in which we’ve had to use up our REQ’s to fight the bosses out in the open. It’s just not fun.
TL;DR - Uf you’re going to put bosses in confined spaces A- don’t or B- don’t spawn them in halfway through a round where the REQ’s have already been spent on the other bosses.
I myself haven’t had the Mantis boss occur yet. That being said you are correct about the boss spawning. Sure let’s put two legendary Wardens and a mythic one at the back of home base where nothing can properly shoot them.
They need to be moved or make them so they come out of the bases and hunt us down. That would improve the bosses tenfold.

Take a Grinder or Tartarus’ Gavel and smash that Mantis up. It worked the two or three times I tried it, and the soldiers tended to ignore me for some reason.

I’m guessing you’re referring to: Attack On Sanctum
Mainly because I’ve seen the Mantis being dropped on top of the Garage, landing inside…meaning the 3 tanks couldn’t get anywhere near the Mantis, even if we did get some damage against it…2 seconds later it would move out of range, nearly instant healed. >.<

I’ve tested this and I’ve found that you cant even get 2 shots off of a spartan laser (Regular) before the shields recharge.
Had this happen to me yesterday after three of us used sword banshees to wipe out all the prior rounds. Was thinking that it would be great to have a self destruct option on the banshee to do a dive bombing on the mantis through the roof.
I don’t think its just this particular experience that needs to be fixed with firefight. there are other issues that need to be addressed. the mantises are a little bit of overkill but we can all agree the locations need to be fixed on them too. hell a few need to be nerfed a little. I’m talking about you grunt mech…

Have to say, I haven’t had a single issue with the Grunt mech. I’ve seen tons of anger over it on here though. I think one of the biggest issues is a lot of players can be reluctant to use their REQs, which then makes things harder.
My only issue so far is with the Mantis’s
Each boss really needs to have a weapon that’s their weakness. And not a mythic one.
I think this round should be nerfed/ Either place the Mantis out of the garage or have much less cannon fodder protecting the Mantis.
The only time I ever completed the series of mantis bosses was when instead of spawning scorpions, my team spawned ghost ultras for the extra mobility.
What map?
Sanctum?
If it was inside the garage, gaus hog to shoot in the window?
Hammer and camo? (Don’t know if camo works)
I hate infinate reinforcements.
