It’s rank currently in the list really doesn’t have much to do with what the future holds. It currently holds that rank because of the state its in and it’s up to 343 to improve on that.
You apparently believe the game is going to die or is already dead.
It’s not.
This franchise is too big for it to simply be forgotten about given that Halo 4, 5, and MCC all had botched launches and/or were received poorly, and yet many people still found joy in playing those games, especially MCC after a lot of the issues it had were addressed years after it initially launched.
Think more about “dead” meaning there’s literally no one playing this game. 5000 people recorded playing the game on PC (because we don’t know the numbers for Xbox) isn’t “dead” or “dying”. Its a reflection of disinterest, and rightfully so.
The game will be dead if 343 states that they’re shutting down servers. This game is nowhere near that, especially not after today with the release of Season 2. Population will inevitably spike and go down again. That’s par for the course.
I’ve been seeing players label every little issue with this game the “nail in the coffin” at least once a week since November. Kinda hard to take any of them seriously when they’re progressively wrong.
Imo, this game is like an aborted -Yoink!-. Its gotta cook for a few seasons, hopefully the numbers come back up.
My old skool halo friends are pretty much done with halo until 343 is replaced.
None of the people i know from reach play.
Same with all the friends i met on halo 5.

343 is a sham and I personally believe nobody should be playing tbh. Dont let them draw you in with shiny sparkly cosmetics until they deliver what was promised at the beginning.
Right if this game didn’t have a store or dumb customization we would have gotten 2 maps and a couple modes with worse lag and major net-code issues within 6 months…
Couldnt disagree more. They launched without staples from previous Halo titles, and with broken cheat systems, and netcode.
There focus should not be on something new , it should be:
. Fix desync, and bugs
Fix anitcheat or the complete lack of one
3a Add back the requested playlists/modes - Ranked Slayer, Doubles, Ranked BTB, Griffball, Infection, etc etc.
3b. Forge/More maps - Even if they added previous maps back into HI it would be a huge upgrade
Their worry right now should not be bringing in new users, it should first be on keeping their current customers, because if they cant do that, the game willi die.
As for anti-cheat. There is obviously a system in place (describing it as a complete lack of one is somewhat disingenuous). And from where I stand it works pretty well. I’ve come across one clear cheater in 800+ games.
And besides… doesn’t my quote actually mention Grifball and more maps (via Forge). Aren’t we essentially agreeing?
If you consider an anticheat system that actually doesnt stop cheating whatsoever, sure its got anticheat. In the eyes of users who seeing cheating regularly, it doesnt exist (or is an epic failure)
We are partially agreeing, im just saying it doesnt need to be something completely new to bring in other mainstream players. I needs to fix whats broken, and implement what people expect from a Halo game.
As I’ve said before, the proof is there with previous releases of Halo, especially under 343’s reign. It’s not going anywhere.
There is a dip in population and popularity because the game is undoubtedly in a sorry state. But to say this game is dying or is currently dead is being dramatic.
