Really.... A 6 Month Season!?!?! Will This Game Last, or Will it Officially Die?

Guys, I’ve been the biggest halo fan forever. This game though… it’s dead for me. Until they try the battle royale, because it’s made by someone other than 343 at this time who can maybe have potential at pulling people back into the games population. ORRRR they need to add way more maps, they need to add forge already, so people can make better maps than the actual developers themselves, they also need more matchmaking type such as a simple Doubles matchmaking playlist… Also, what the heck is the delay in the campaign multiplayer??? It’s going to release a year later after the game has been released. That is an embarrassing failure.

It just seems like at this point there is no creativity or innovation going on in the company. I mean don’t they have veterans of halo to draw out ideas form them, can’t they view these forums and see how much dislike is in them and maybe contact people who post their dislikes or gather up intelligence and information from these posts and actually do what the community is asking for. There are just so many failures at this point it’s unforgivable and I can’t support the game until something drastic happens.

They have lost a HUGE halo fan, and I am just saddened to say I can’t play this game anymore and that it is almost officially dead. There needs to be a bigger reaction when the freaking MCC outpaces Halo Infinite, the flagship game on population… it’s inexcusable.

The nail in the coffin for them now is about to be this 6 month season. No current game on the market would DARE to do this, because they would never be competitive and they will lose out to everyone else for not adapting 10/10 times. There is literally one mistake after the other and absolutely no learning being done at all.

I wish they could just take the hit on the chin like a man, admit the faults, listen to the community, bring in talent, and fix the dang game to it’s maximum potential.

Rant over… I’m out… Peace Halo

Agree with you. The second half of next Season is a worry.

But the first half should be great fun. New Battle Pass. New modes (I love King of the Hill). Maps. Events - who’s not going to love Rocket repulsors or Sword Ninjas. I’m just going to dive in and have some fun for a while.

There’s a lot of pressure though come September for Forge. It’s a gap it could easily fill if it’s up and running with a quality browser. But that’s a lot for a beta version.

They need to butter Forge up somehow. Think outside the box. Maybe they could release it with some remade classic maps. That would be a great way to showcase what it could do. And maybe a classic mode like Grifball.

Call me crazy but I don’t think more maps is the solution. Would be enjoyable, but they need something big and different to attract more of the mainstream crowd in.

Personally I would prefer a game that functions correctly.

…and has collision.

This game will last. The reality is that this forum, and those who vocalize their concerns about the current state of video games at large, are the vocal minority. There are way more people less in tune to the issues that this game alone has and just mindlessly play without worrying about even a quarter of the things people post about here on a daily basis. That, and it’s Halo. It’s simply not going anywhere. It is an IP that has withstood the test of time, especially in this industry.

Depends on whether or not their content development pipeline picks up higher speeds than it did during Season 1. If it doesn’t, or we’re essentially stuck with the same situation twice, then I would worry.

I can go play Halo 2 and have more fun playing that than infinite why? The sandbox was amazing… the maps were memorable… Duel Wielding, Lock on rockets, amazing BTB modes… they had a robust matchmaking system… they had a “real” ranked system, and a “real” social system… I don’t need “Store” and “Customization” to make the game “good”… Halo Infinite needs more memorable guns, maps, modes, etc. All the base maps are so boring…

Ah yes is that why there are hardly any players on PC (5,277 Steam average and lets be honest not even 10% the amount of people will play using the xbox app vs steam) and it is 14th in line of top played xbox games currently behind forza horizon 5 which lost a vast majority of its player base after a few weeks?

It really doesn’t help that a lot of the game modes that were supposed to be featured in season 2 are locked as rotational playlists. Like, really? And then there’s still the whole issue with multiple modes like Oddball, CTF, Strongholds, etc. are all locked behind Quickplay. That was just a dumb move.

Seriously 343, just try to draw inspiration from the Halo MCC Match Composer. Every game mode deserves its own dedicated playlist.

will it die? most likely not… is it completely not worth playing in its current state? yeah! like even for the fun gameplay… have fun with RNG not only on modes you want but also with your ping ranging from 100 - 250 ms, at random :3

Yeah I get that it’s halo and it will stand, but it will have the same 1,000 people playing it only and nobody else. That seems like a dead game to me.

Well, I at least we got a fixed MCC and thank god for that.
MCC is amazing, and it’s good to have Infinite as a relevant game to come back to and feel the new graphics and mechanics.
The slow updates is definitevly ruining the game, but hopefully it will get the good content one day.
Just sad it didn’t launch with what was needed.

tfw game devs can’t push out an fully-functional game but makes fully functional ingame shops with wacky prices

343 tried again to reinvent the wheel, and after a decade they still don’t have a clue that they are the actual problem.

Everything that is wrong with this beta is 100% on them. Maybe stop being stupid and actually learn from ones mistakes instead of constantly repeating the same mistakes for once and move forward?

WoW, what a concept.

They need to change it to semesters lol

Unless MS divulge the figures for the store, we’ll never know if the game is healthy or dying (in a financial sense). If people are still spending loads of money (collectively), the game will keep ticking along even if long term fans are moving away… :person_shrugging:

There’s going to be a short term bump in the playerbase but that won’t last. The numbers are going to drop off again like they did in S1. Once people finish the pass and can’t progress anymore they will move on.

Co-op campaign is fun. But what I really want is a PvE mode. Be it another Spartan Ops or Firefight, I don’t care. I just want to don my ODST armour while fighting side by side with other Spartans as we defend humanity.

i fully agree!! i loved firefight in halo, and i want it here in halo infinite.

Halo’s been through a lot worse dry spells through the last ten years, frankly. Few of us are thrilled at the state of Infinite but this series has proven it has a solid core of fans who just keep coming back to it. We’ll all be likley exhausted with S2 by the time S3 rolls around, just like we are with Season One right now. But many (most) of us will still be here for it.

The question mark is whether the many players who lapsed during the early months of S1 will ever return or if there’s really any chance to regain the player counts seen in the first few weeks. This game can survive for a long time without those players, but as a series, Halo needs more players to thrive.
