Realize Please...

Few things to realize.

  1. This is the first time anything like this has been done on any platform.

  2. These servers are relatively new.

  3. Dedicated servers for a project/game like this has never been done.

This game has 4 games in one trying to seamlessly blend them in a SINGLE matchmaking experience. 5 including Halo 2:A. This game isn’t broken, it is just new.

I am certain in about a month from now you complainers won’t even remember what you said because of all the fun you’ll be having once the experience in completely refined. We all know you aren’t going to quit the Master Chief Collection so please just try and understand the ambition and the fact that something like this has NEVER been done before.

This was my post in one of the complaint threads and decided to post it as a new topic.

I pretty much agree with you.
Sure, all the rage is causing people to stop thinking straight. But all in all I think this will be, maybe not forgotten, but somewhat alleviated over time. Once people get their Halo MP back.

But considering they have 4 games worth of data to sift through, plus having to make all of this flow nicely through multiplayer, it can be quite taxing.

If this was new ground to break then they should have done an open beta. This poor role-out is a sin. Why should I accept 0% playability in match making, a 4 hour long update, and a nearly wasted night planned with my friend after spending full retail on a game? 343i has shown their incompetence. I will not be preordering Halo 5 because I know they can’t be trusted with the content when the roll-out is good or the roll-out when the content is good.

This takes a damaged reputation and blackens it further.

I think people will always be like this and this thread won’t change a thing but I still want people to understand that something like this has never been done. At least open some minds to it…

Ugh that feeling of relief after finishing the MP download, and then that feeling to know it doesn’t work anyway.
That was a baaaad day.

I agree 100% with the OP. Once it’s fixed people will forget. But they/I will remember when Halo 5 pre ordering time comes around.

Honestly I cannot agree. A beta for something like this is a significant challenge as their is so much to test. It would’ve been too much to do something like a public beta for a cross matchmaking system like this. Something like this takes time even upon its release and even if it isn’t 100% or even 50% you have to take into account that they are still trying their best.

You seem to be treating this like any other title. This really is anything but. The preparation for something like this is almost unimaginable for any developer.

I don’t like to reference other games or companies but look at Advanced Warfare. That is just a new COD and nothing compared to something like this and yet they are still having terrible trouble still to this day over a week out of release. It says something about Microsoft, the Xbox One and any hugely anticipated game being released. So if it now is the case with any big title try to grasp that with the the quantity, quality and entirety of the MCC.

Hahahah Yes! Halo 5 launch date will be filled with healthy reminders of this week.

“I don’t like to reference other games or companies but look at Advanced Warfare. That is just a new COD and nothing compared to something like this and yet they are still having terrible trouble still to this day over a week out of release.”

lol what? It’s working great and pretty much my only option since Halo still won’t work.

It’s working great now

> I’m not sure if it was pressure from Microsoft to sell consoles this Christmas, or if it was just a complete lack of testing on 343’s part, but the product 343 has given us is completely unacceptable. The number of bugs and flaws in the matchmaking system are bad EVEN FOR A BETA, let alone a game most gamers preordered.
>
> Before launch, 343 actually claimed that their matchmaking modifications would “put players into the fairest matches faster than any Halo game to date”. What we have been given is a beta, full of bugs and defects. Nowhere near a finished product. Fanboys have to acknowledge this is awful. For a lot of gamers this might be their first impression of Halo. Future potential fans are being turned away by this embarrassing launch. We, as customers, are not getting what we payed for.
>
> If you are a FANBOY, defending 343 does not help the situation at all. If you think this is an acceptable launch, you are lowering the bar. The standard Bungie set for Halo was very high, and if we accept such a buggy, flawed release, we are telling developers we will buy anything with “Halo” on the box. The fanboys on these forums have to acknowledge this release is terrible, and get over it when other players vent on the forums. All the players “Hating” on 343 just want Halo to be successful. Defending 343 after this incompetence disqualifies you from any objective thought/opinion regarding 343. If you accept such low quality for a Halo game, I don’t want you as a Halo fan. We payed 100% of the price for the game,100% of the game should work.
>
> The only thing more annoying to me than 343 messing this game up, is the blind fanboys acting like 343 is doing a good job.
>
> By defending 343 for this awful release, you are hurting Halo. Telling developers this kind of broken release is acceptable is the worst thing you could do. Commend developers when they deserve it, Scold them when they deserve it. Thats what these forums are for, feedback from the community. The only question is, what feedback do we send to 343 after they release a product of such low quality? Do you want Halo to succeed or fail?
>
> Thanks for reading fanboys.

It is people like this that just do not get it at all and jump the gun from their frustration rather than actually REALIZING…

This was done on Gamecube with The Legend of Zelda…

It worked fine.

People could get into games “Day Zero”
Lag was the issue.
Campaign also worked for everyone from the start.

Halo:MCC is far from where COD:AW was.

It’s really not some ground breaking new thing…it’s not like all the different game engines run at the same time. There has been a ton of games released before with multiple engines on the same disc.

The matchmaking system is the same that any other game uses, the correct engine boots up once the game is selected.

The main problem with matchmaking is this is the first time 343 has ever used dedicated servers.

Then there are all the bugs from porting the games over without extensive QA.

Severely incorrect friend. There has never been a cross system like this ever done before in this exact fashion. A ton? Name 5 please. You are probably thinking of other collection titles like the Orange Box which aren’t nearly the same as this. A UI like this really is new.

At the end of the day, we are all going to get to play classic Halo. What more can you ask for?

also be aware most haters are a loud minority

“this game isnt broken its just new?” have you lost your mind?
have you not read the latest patch notes coming for tonight?

and that doesnt even address everything
just in case you cant find it

Made a number of updates to how matchmaking progress is communicated to the player. Searching
Searching for more players
Players found
