As many others, I really liked Forthencho in the Forerunner Saga novels. It was great to see him in the terminals during the Human-Forerunner War. In Primordium he is described as very dark skinned, I imagine him being black. However in the terminals, he is being portrayed as being Native American, with his crew appearing like a mix of some other Native Americans and white guys. But how he does look in the awesome in the terminals. Why do you think this change was made by 343 or the motion animation studio?
The H4 Terminals depict canonical events but the details aren’t entirely correct. The Forerunner Saga is the definitive series of events with wholly canonical details, so Forthencho is canonically black, but since the Terminals are a ‘reconstruction’ of events which has degraded over time since it couldn’t access the Domain, for some reason Forthencho looks different…
He still looks sort of dark skinned, but not quite how Primordium had me picture him.

That does make sense, as there were things were not quite the same as the Forerunner Saga.
This does bring up the question, how much of the terminals are not true to the cannon.

All of them, I assume. It’s like the prologue battle scene or Halo Legends- the general idea is correct, but the details are suspect.

True, I was wondering why there wasn’t the IsoDidact. I wonder why the terminals have changed quite a few details since the Domain got destroyed.
Forthenco looks pretty dark skinned to me. I think its his face paint plus facial structure that gives him a native indian look.
Wasn’t he supposed to resemble Australian aboriginese? A google search of them seems to put them as lighter than him (though they are outside vs his dark ship).
His armor seems to vary more from the book than his skin/face imo. Its possible he didn’t always run around in full armor though, especially as a captain.

I think that is more they didn’t want to complicate matters for those who hadn’t read the books/other terminals. The existance of the other didact has little to do with how he came to be in that sphere.
He looks dark skinned to me as well. I think lighting plays a large role here. In all his scenes he has blue/white light shining on him which makes him look lighter than he really is. Let’s also remember he is a more evolved form of human. Their ethnicity might be slightly different than ours and in this case he has the bone structure of a Native American with the skin pigmentation of an Australian Aborigines.

In Primordium, his skin is described as dark, like Vinnevra, which in turn was described as darker than Chakas’. Chakas’ skin was described as bronze colored.
I have to agree with OP, Forthencho looks way too pale in Halo 4 compared to his description in the Forerunner books.
I’m more disappointed that he didn’t have his exaggerated codpiece.

Haha, that would be distracting, hello Forthe-, ah, what is up with your-nevermind.

Dark skinned does not in any way describe black, nor does very dark skinned. Although I have to admit that in the terminals he seems to have tattoos of some sort (as does his crew and just about every human in the terminals for some reason) so it is kind of hard to tell completely.
He matches those pictures just fine to me. Both the light and the shadow are very exaggerated in his scene.
A dark skinned person has either dark brown or black skin color, so if primordium tells us that Fortencho is dark then his looks could range from a southern Indian looking person to a native australian.
Pretty sure he was compared to Gamelpar who was then compared to an aboriginal Australian.

There’s not an enemy half so intimidating as one that… Okay then.
