Real time A.i. feedback

An A.I such as Cortana is essentially a very effective weapon for MasterChief and the UNSC. As with every other Smart A.I, their purpose is to support and provide tactical information or carry out technical roles to whether it is situated, in this circumstance, the battlefield.

What if Firefight integrated the players A.I as an tactical, supportive role? In Campaign you are given multiple heads up regarding the battlefield and objectives but it is of course entirely scripted and pre-determined. Let me give you a few examples of how this could work in Firefight as Live notifications:

Notifications

Drop ship approaching at extreme proximity
Squad member in need of immediate assistance (Player 2/3/4 critical shields)
Elite enemy force approaching (Top tier enemy)
Squad member killed in action (Depending on game mode)
Primary objective requires immediate support (Generator almost destroyed)
Heavy weaponry spotted (Ally/ Enemy)
Enemy vehicle approaching position
Allied forces inbound
Equipment dropped (Weapon/ Ammo)

Notifications like these provide the player with supportive and effective information based on what is currently happening on the battlefield. Instead of pointing out standard behavior it would notify the player of real time alerts. There would be more available but due to the lack of information on Halo 4’s Firefight and it’s features this will have to make do. I know every Spartan does not have an A.I but when playing as Chief for so long you get used to it. I want to feel like one the UNSC’s most valuable assets is not just a scripted commentary or general chatter. I even thought about combat-suggestions being implemented but I think it would just aggravate the player after a while and interfere with their ‘individual experience’.

Obviously the lines will have to be chosen carefully as too simple and frequent statements can get repetitive and annoying. They might also have to be altered or scaled to the particular game type. For example Firefight Arcade should not feature Squad deaths. There would also be the option to completely turn off your A.I or simply reduce it to what the player had in Halo: Reach regards to character voices. (Or both).

A step towards an more functional effective and real time A.I.

Your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Could be cool-ish.

This actually sounds pretty useful.

I think its a good idea it might be in halo 4 but well have to see

think some of it might be a bit annoying, so i think there should be a button to immediately mute it

> think some of it might be a bit annoying, so i think there should be a button to immediately mute it

Yes, this will be unfavourable for some players. Therefore the ability to disable the option completely will be available during the FireFight settings. To reduce the repetition and frustration of hearing these notifications frequently it is important that they only alert the player in particular and appropriate circumstances.

Sounds nifty.

Now these are the ideas 343 should listen to, this would work so well in Halo 4 and it would be even better if you could unlock a -Yoink- load of voices.

Heck, Cortana or similar VI/AI’s might have become the new Multiplayer announcers.

Thank you.

Yes, obviously I was simply using Cortana as an example as we hear her ‘scripted’ feedback during Campaign but other voices would definitely give the player that luxury of selection. I know the thread/ suggestion centres around A.I’s but it is more so their function and ability. Therefore the voice concept could be implemented as it did in Reach with different A.I’s and Characters in the game. This may also help with the issue of an irritating voice repeating lines. Some may find Buck’s comedic voice a lot more easier to hear repeated lines that Cortana’s chatty persona for example.

This idea is brilliant with the only flaw being that repetitveness can become annoying/frustating.
Maybe Halo 4 can have A.I voices similar to reach’s firefight voices.

I share your want to feel important in firefight I even developed my own backstory for Noble 6 but that is another Story…

Yes, it is a flaw that would need to be carefully developed upon. There is a possibility to only announce particular alerts every so often instead of every time. A Squad Mate death for example.

I purely think A.I’s should have a more ‘real’ presence in the game and actually Live gameplay other than pre-determined lines. I want the player to feel like they are just as an effective asset/ weapon as the fiction portrays them to be.

*pawn! /but I don’t give a -yoink-!

Thanks for the input.
