Real Talk: What can be done about quitting?

I know this topic has been beaten to death, but is there anything that can actually be done about quitting? I feel like it’s extremely uncommon to finish a balance game with a full time on both sides, not to mention the majority of games feel totally one-sided.

The game seems to “work,” but it’s not fun.

I’m not sure it has the legs to go the distance.

You have to out-quit them. Quit more… obviously.

When people quit and it has a noticeable effect on the outcome of the game, I report them on through their gamer tag. Unfortunately, it’s likely a waste of time as, I don’t think I’ve ever seen another players gamertag with a ‘bad’ rating and there’s no compensation or satisfaction from actually reporting them. Maybe I’m just bitter lol

You could make the wait 15-30min if they quit the game regardless of how many times they quit.

It’s frustrating to say the least

How are they penalized? Does anyone know?

I feel the same, I still report them though haha

There are countless threads on quitting so if you know this then why start a new one?

Bottom line: 343 doesn’t think there’s anything wrong with how they handle quits so it is what it is.

Almost every time I have played slayer we have some one quit, and then my team gets thrashed because it’s 3 on 4. It’s frustrating to say the least.

I’m not so sure its all quitting. I think a good portion of players leaving games is because they are getting disconnected. It happened with me a lot in Warzone. 5 of 7 games I lost connection and or Halo would shut down. Its happened in arena too but not as much. But I played all weekend either arena or Warzone and almost every loss I had in arena was partly or mostly due to one or two players leaving the game. Will say I was in one game with my team being 4 and the other team two and they beat us, although not because of me I did decently the rest of the team was terrible. That might have been in Arena/Arena and not Arena/Slayer.

The system is as much at fault as the gamer.

I’ve stated this many of times. If a game ends and you press the button on your Xbox to quit, the system will QUEUE you back into the next lobby. If it finds a game fast enough the system has not dropped you and the next game starts. Even if your Xbox has been off for 20-30 seconds.

I was not aware of this but it’s a big problem, so you if you talking about people starting a game and quitting instantly (not loading or within the first 30 seconds) this is more than likely the problem.

Yes, people quit in the middle of a game but there is nothing you really can do about it. I’ve been dropped a few times for no reason. Playing with friends and the system DERPS on itself. I get that failed to load sound, you know the one from MCC when it go buzzzzz and kicks you to the main menu at the point it loads.

Honestly? I don’t think there is any good way to stop quitting. People quit in Halo 2 and Halo 3 as well so it’s definitely not something new to recent Halo games.

I’ve lost count of the games I’ve tried to back out of and it started before I could out. Mostly Warzone though.

This is something that does need addressed. If they fixed the UI to more of a lobby environment I would know when the game is over, when it’s going to start searching and even better so I can add players from the game to my next game.

Yes, these are games I do quit, if I was done playing and got insta-locked into a game I just left.

Same here, I’ve never seen a noticeable effect from reporting players.

I always report people who leave in the post game stats. It may not do anything, but at least I feel better about it =/

I played a game the other day where literally my whole team quit and it was 4v1 I quit and got slapped with a ban lol. Lesson learned!

5 minute ban for first offense, not sure how long for repeated

i DC’d one match and couldnt do an arena match for 5min

same for betrayals (stupid teammates walking into my splinter nades)

You may as well quit vs. playing it out b/c at least your KD won’t get trashed.

Love how 343 punishes the symptom and not the problem.

I have basically stopped playing arena with randoms. It’s hard for me not to play slayer, but the quitting is just out of hand. I’ll only play if I have a full team, which hasnt happened in a while, so I’m stuck with warzone.

might be good but imagine the whole team quitted on you and you are left 1 vs 4.

In that case, I wouldn’t punish the last dude if he decide to quit
