Real Spartans

Since I don’t have anywhere else to send this in to, and I sort of doubt this is much of a voice, I’ll just leave this here anyway.

I’d like to see real Spartans. The visual feel of these so called spartan IVs doesn’t cut it. Their bodies don’t seem physically strong enough, or rather they look to small. Their thigh gaps are pitifully Grand Canyon wide, their necks are too long, almost like they have no trap muscles, and the gaps in the plating are a bit odd. The armor of Halo:CE through Halo 3 ad even reach retained a certain bulk, and it appeared that the person wearing it was physically capable even without Mjolnir.

There are other things Halo needs, but this is a basic philosophy and feel of halo issue. My will for halo to return to a more classic feeling and classic playing FPS can be likely ignored if it still manages to play well. While working on Halo 5, take looks at the MCC. Take deep looks at how everything looks, sounds, feels, and as importantly plays. Try to recapture the old while keeping on your track towards the new.

Let the Spartans be All They Can Be

Real Spartans have curves!

> Real Spartans have curves!

Ya but they also don’t look like shiny plastic toys.

Reach had awesome battle-worn armor. It also wasn’t as shiny as a piece of armor fresh of the production line. (like H4)

Why you telling me this?

The Spartan-IVs are a different take on the Spartans. I agree that they need better armor though. Everything else though? Eh, I don’t know if I agree.

Really? You’re criticizing the thigh gap on video game characters? :expressionless:

I agree about the armor. It is kind of a rule of thumb with power armor designs that it should look like it can support itself even without an operator in it. Even with criticism of the “space diaper” of the Halo CE-3 armor, it looks like it would support itself and give complete protection. The Mark IV, Mark V, [Reach’s Mark V**, and the pre-Halo 4 Mark VI all really carry this design principle. With the Halo 4’s Gen 2, the armor appeared so segmented that it looks like plastic plates attached to a wetsuit, and it no way looks like it should support itself or even that it provides much protection to the wearer. And even though Halo 4’s Master Chief armor looks better than the Gen 2 armor, it still suffers from being overly segmented.**](http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101212055739/halo/images/f/f0/Vanity_634277013964048387.png)

I’m really not seeing much difference besides the lack of a spacer diaper. Add one and the IV is just as covered as the rest. Actually, he’s already got integrated plating there, but whatever.**
> Point is, if you want to reduce MJOLNIR to “plastic plates attached to a wetsuit” that “no way looks like it should support itself”, why the bias? All 343 has to do is rub some dirt on the Gen 2 and it’ll fit right in.](http://img4.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20101212055739/halo/images/f/f0/Vanity_634277013964048387.png)

take a look at this first of all, the reason for them feeling smaller than the other spartans is because their bodies are augmented from adult age and not from childs age. they are meant to be created in large numbers. but yes the design of spartan 4s armor needs a little more armor. also reach armors were not fun they looked so phat and it didn’t look like super soldiers at all.

Hahahahahaha. I read this quote, and was like “no way this was actually said.” But, lo and behold. That’s like saying “Ashley Williams’ hair was too long in Mass Effect 3”. Totally inconsequential.

I agree with the spirit of the post, if not the express content. The overall design of Halo 4 made Spartan IVs seem like toys, instead of machines of war. This was supported by some rather trite dialogue in Spartan Ops, and the nature of the Halo 4 armory as well. Spartan armor needs to be effective, not pretty. Give me battle worn welded on plates to protect against plasma fire, or war paint/hand painted faded designs, or even trophies from battle publicly displayed. Shiny unicorn horns or the ugly redesign of Scout armor aren’t the way to go.

I won’t touch actual physical appearance though, the lack of proper thigh gap still has me laughing. Next we’ll be criticizing how the female spartans don’t have dimples on their backs right above their butt. Hilarious.

They look like cheap plastic toys in the armory, player cards, and in-game. And that X-frame torso… why do they all look like X’s?

They look so much better in cutscenes and screenshots. I look at the bulletin screenshot spotlight and I wonder why my experience is so inferior.

Still, a relatively weak interpretation of a half ton mjolnir powered assault armor. I see nothing in the offerings which suggests augmented strength, a fusion core, joint locking, shield generators, biofoam injectors, or anything else substantial.

agreed.

but on the picture i posted they actually look pretty cool but as you said when you them in game not so.
they clearly look like they undergone something since they don’t look as small as odst

That did come out wrong. Bad frame of reference, but you get what I mean, right? What I really mean is these Spartans don’t really look like they lift. I get that it’s a Different take, sure, but a spartan should still look like a Spartan. It Seems I picked the wrong anatomical references for my argument to be taken the right way.

As someone who can sort of relate to the personalities of the Original type of spartan, those who know nothing else, I can’t say I like the Spartan IVs as much. Having, a long time ago, written down ideas and stories about halo of my own, the spartan knock offs that were like the Spartan IVs were always inferior, and logically so. Spartan IVs make sense in context to the current story, sure, but don’t forget Delta and Epsilon company Spartans IIIs, don’t forget the mythical Class II Spartans. It really doesn’t matter what the Spartan is in the end, as long as it looks, feels, and plays according to the “Spartan Codex” so to speak, and that includes the proper Anatomy of a Spartan.

agreed.
when i played the campaign they only looked like odst 2.0, which they essentially are. I think they only need the looks, to make them feel like super soldier.

I’m just putting this out there: this is ridiculous.

Also: THESE GUYS look pretty beefy to me. Haven’t gotten in there to measure their thigh gaps for ya, but I’m assuming at least a space diaper will fit in there without causing too much friction.

Y’know, fair enough. Those guys do look like Spartans should, or at least like 700 kilos of augmented and accelerated awesome should. They don’t look like they ride logs everywhere they go, now.

> They don’t look like they ride logs everywhere they go, now.

Yes.

I completely agree I want my Spartan to look like a walking rank that is advanced etc. Having them look like wetsuits with plastic plates stuck on is the prefect way to phrase it, it looks awful. End of.

See what I did there.

> Y’know, fair enough. Those guys do look like Spartans should, or at least like 700 kilos of augmented and accelerated awesome should. They don’t look like they ride logs everywhere they go, now.

just going to point out that an S-II in armour was only 500kg, and the S-IV armour seems to have been designed to favour shields and mobility over armour, since armour is useless against plasma. Heck, even the technical stats for the Warrior armour mention that its made up of hollow plates. The fact that the H5 armour is bulkier is probably a response to fighting resurgent insurrections (read Escalation) and possibly the Prometheans.

i didnt really have any complaints about the anatomy of the spartans 4 i just really didnt like the armor in halo 4. personally i’m hoping they base the armor design in halo 5 off of reach. that game has my favorite armor by far.

Man I opened this post here cause I thought you gonna show us that you made a real Spartan suit + weapons and amor abilities.
Dang what a disappointment……
