All the topics here are asking or showing 343i what they want or don’t want in the next addition of Halo. Here is the true question what are you willing not to have in Halo 4 & what I mean is the things offered in the current Halo titles ie:
Campaign & Co/Op Campaign
Multi-player Matchmaking
Multi-player Firefight
Custom online gaming
Custom Firefight
Forge
Theater
File share options
API option for outside stat collection
In my opinion all of the above is a minimum that is need for the next Halo title…all of the above makes Halo the best following of XBL members there is.
So as the question states are you willing to lose any of the above?
If the next title doesn’t have (at the minimum) all of that. I will likely not be buying another Halo game for the foreseeable future. I couldn’t bear to see the franchise take 1 step forward and 1000 steps back if that’s the case.
> Multiplayer-Firefight would be the easiest to lose. It’s new, and hasn’t been implemented well as of yet.
This or Custom Firefight.
Core Firefight wasn’t as fun as in ODST in Reach, but Reach’s variants of it were amazingly fun. If the game has a fun enough base Firefight, we won’t need custom firefight.

God no, I would never want to loose any level of customization. Even if Halo 4’s core FF mode is amazing, I still want to ability to change up the experience.

well considering we truly lost the file share in reach… (because you cant look at peoples in game) i would have to say the fileshare
At this point I don’t see how they can really remove any of those features. It would be like making a Halo game where MC didn’t have his armor. Some of the variants of FF or Invasion would not be necessary(or even wanted) but the basic levels of those two game-types need to be present. As someone that spends a the vast majority of every day on a stat tracking website one thing I would absolutely love to be there more than FF or Invasion is the API.
Although Halo Fan Communities are not reliant upon being able to collect stats it is a fun feature that makes the site all the more interesting. With the ways that these sites can generate stats, comparisons, and leader boards in a way that 343 apparently has no interest in doing it leads to a great deal of debate and competitive bs-ing between the members. Fan sites could go on without an API but they would be a shadow of what they are now and that would lead to some loss of interest in the game.
Firefight is too gimmicky. It’s turned into an arcade game. Unless they can revitalize that survival feeling or at least make it a multi-faction AI war with the player in the middle of it (a la Two Betrayals encounter), it’s got to go.
The minimal stuff:
Campaign & Co-op
Mp
Theater (for all our 3rd person needs)
Forge should be an unlockable mode. Say, by collecting skulls on several mp maps.
Either API for outside stats because all the stats I care for can be found on the site, or multiplayer Firefight.
The netcode for firefight, namely the synchronous netcode that makes it to where the hostbox sends out a signal to clients and waits for them to acknowledge and signal back is far from perfection, or even up to par in some cases. Not to mention if you go in alone to Firefight matchmaking you get some of the biggest idiots and jerks around. (O U GOT THE ROCKETHOG? IMA DESTROY IT INSTEAD OF GUN LOLOLOL) Custom firefight, as long as it still has support for three people, is just fine. For challenges and achievements the game just detect if you got the right settings or not.
> Not worried about Firefight customization.

No, and why should we have to? is the question I have to ask.
