How is this possible after all these years to get subtitles in cutscenes only on Halo Reach ?
The subtitle display is bad (font/color/background could be improved - think about visually impaired person, missing information on who is talking, etc…)
Take feedbacks more seriously at this level since you got the menu labeled as “accessibility” in settings. It should be labeled as “-Yoink-” honestly.
(there is even an article talking about it there if you want a recap of what is available as settings right now : https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/accessibility-in-halo-the-master-chief-collection )
I’m so disgusted to see how you could miss a crucial feature usefull not only for deaf or hard of hearing people since YEARS.
On release, there was audio issues on PC for Halo MCC because of bugs (muffled, music mixed with ambient sounds - if I disable the music, I won’t be able to hear the sound of helicopters etc…). Subtitles could compensate that (best would be real caption support).
Yes, I saw that 343 Industries is working on a new game engine but W-T-F !! Halo MCC got out recently…
Halo CE is out since 2001. Are them aware that subtitles are really bad on Halo titles (in campaign) since this release (yes it was made by Bungie I know…) ?
I just hope 343 Industries won’t release good subtitles/captions support for Halo Infinite only (which will use the new game engine).
I don’t really know what kind of game engine Halo MCC on PC is using so… (there is unreal engine but it seems there is others kinds of engines as quoted there : https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/mcc-development-update-may-2019 - search term “engines evolved” )
I would appreciate to get an official answer (with a technical explanation if possible about how subtitles/captions are handled right now in the game engines - both Halo MCC and Halo Infinite)
PS : For the ones which don’t use subtitles and want to have a quick look -> here is what is available right now in Halo Reach and in cutscenes only https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=50Vd0rDIf3c (video is not by me)
