As we know, the Amor in Halo 5 has had much attention to, but the customization when compared to previous Halo’s, even to the basics of Halo 3, is lacking. Not much can be done (that we know of), but it raises the question: What if something can be done? What if 343 was able to bring deeper basic customization into Halo 5, at the very least, shoulder changing.
I think this needs to be discussed further so we can see what 343 thinks.
How would you implement this into the game or how do you think it would be done easiest?
I reflect back to 343’s reasoning when they released the true colors and emblem color customization. They had said that the previous emblem customization restricted player choice. As a dedicated Halo player since Halo 3, buffing out my Spartan is a prime pillar for what Halo was and is to this day. Customization is a testament to the evolution of the Halo multiplayer experience, an experience that was once strictly about ownage on the battlefield, that has grown into ownage married to visual badassery.
I beg we all think about our options today and think more on the options to come, or that could be.
I’d love if they made it like Halo 3 or better. It’s true everything you say and I think it’s a important part of Halo.
But I don’t believe this will come to Halo 5. We will have to cross our fingers and hope for Halo 6.
Given how well it’s modelled in Halo 5, a little more customisation wouldn’t go astray. Props to the art and design team!
Selecting shoulders / arms / chest independently would be nice, but you can see some clipping if you mismatch armour and helmet as is, so, terrible combinations might look… terrible!
I really want the old system back, not only do I miss customising my Spartan but honestly most the new armours look awful, I have yet to find a combo I like in this game that isn’t just MK VI
I’m really disappointed with the fact that Halo 5 went backwards. All they had to do was expand a little on 4’s.
In the beta, the customization was like this, but I didn’t think anything of it. I just figured they were keeping it simple, just for the beta.
Come release day, I was disappointed.
Some of these armors don’t look great.
And personally, I always went with one big shoulder pad , one little shoulder pad.
I doubt they’ll change Halo 5’s armor system at all.
We just have to hope they actual give us way more options, like Halo 4.
Just expand on 4’s system.
although armor customization was great in halo 4 and reach. I still like it in halo 5. probably better. At least we weren’t opening gold req packs only to be disappointed by a shoulder piece or two knee pieces haha. As if emblems weren’t bad enough
Yes, a little more customization would be good. Some armors in halo 5 aren’t even worth looking at, like why does breaker even exist. Or the seeker set. That helmet looks like a boombox.
What I am hoping for in halo 6 is a few things:
-black undersuits; none of that wierd colored suits like in halo 4 & 5
-original designs of the mark IV, V, and VI. Including master chiefs new armor version of mark VI. And some more accurate depictions of old armors from previous halo games.
-hoping that more armors could be unlocked through gameplay unlike the req system. (Kind of like halo reach and 4. Dont despise the req system entirely I just think that some could be unlocked through rng some could be unlocked through skill.)
Thats something I would like to see.

Mark IV works too.
Yeah, I would really like to have an asymmetrical spartan again, like back in Reach and 4. But reach specifically, since honestly the shoulder options were much more prominent.
Yes please more armour customisation now!
I would love to create some RvB charters in Halo 5.
I wish we could go back to the good old days too. Imagine reliving the glory days of LAN parties, flip phones, dial-up internet, CD burning, and Napster. Better yet, imagine popping those old VHS tapes and rewatching your fave movies, and using pagers, typewriters, floppy disk drives, MS DOS, and even payphones! Those were the days, am I right?
I’d like to see at least: Head, Arms, Legs, Torso. There are so many armor sets in game with one or two weak components that are ruined by simply having one ‘armor’ option as opposed to a more in depth system.
in H6’ I’d really like to see: Head, Chest, Shoulders, Forearms. Codpiece, Legs.
Plus I want to see an option for black undersuits above all else.
TBH i don’t mind either way

I don’t know how fancy variations of codpieces would be, but I guess I’d have to see lol.
I agree with you on basically all of your points, but I think it would be cool to have armor linked to achievements as it was back in Halo 3.
Reach had the best customization. Go back to that.

A truer statement has not yet been writ.
i’d like to see a mix of reach and halo 4. be able to change helmet, visor, shoulders, forarms, legs, and chest like halo 4, but then be able to add attachments like ammo pouches and what not similar to reach. theres also the way the new doom went with customization and i think that would be awesome in halo.
I still remember someone mentioning that the reason Armor Customization went “backwards” was because of the 24 player count in Warzone, too many models to render apparently, which would make sense.
I personally think that if they could improve upon it, it would be adding a Arms/Legs armor option. You wouldn’t be able to do seperate arm and leg armors, but it would add a noticeable fourth option to the current customization. I’m not sure if I want shoulders mapped to your chest armor or arm/leg armor. Maybe they could have a choice between the two options?
I noticed someone talking about black undersuits, I still think a tertiary colour option replacing primary colour effect on undersuits would be better, since some people like bright colours.
