Readin this forum has made one thing painfully obvious about the Halo community

1 this forum is a place for feedback to the devs NOT A COMMUNITY. treating it like such is a mistake

2 people are being selfish? idk where you get your money. but i trade misery and portions of my life for mine. so when i spend it i expect a fair deal. anyone being remotely serious can tell Halo infinite isnt a halo game. its highway robbery wearing a game as a mask.

3 you only complained about people providing feedback in the forum specifically designed for people to provide feedback on the game. 10/10 very useful. thanks!

Boy that’s a good way of putting it.

You mean just like the OP? Because he’s crying about people having legitimate gripes. Because even if you bust your -Yoink!- and carry your team to the win, completing the objective, you get the same as the other team who lost or the slackers on your team. People want to play the game to have fun AND to see them progressing in something. To show they’ve been putting in the work. They don’t even have Service Records to show you they’ve been winning.

This dude thinks there’s kids and teens crying on the forum about " muh rewards " when he’s over here still crying in the crib.

Right someone doesn’t understand Halo is more than just the gameplay.

Don’t lump us all into the same group, and don’t lewt the vocal minority give you this assumption that all criticism is “SUPER TOXIC OMG”

There are MANY reasons that this community is upset, THE CREATORS OF THIS FOMO KNEW WHAT THEY WROUGHT, DO NOT MISTAKE THEIR INTENT.

I think you are correct to a degree. If the progression system was reworked to be based on performance it won’t solve all the issues present, however it will solve a number of big issues that players have been yelling at 343 about:

  1. it would create an incentive to win a match first and foremost.
  2. Leaving matches would create a missed opportunity to still gain xp
  3. Objective game modes would not be reduced to slayer matches until the time runs out or people outright leaving unless they REALLY don’t want to play objective.
  4. It would reward effort to try and become better which is what Halo has always been all about since H2.

I could go on, but this list would be 4x as long then. Still implementing this isn’t easy because 343i has pigeon holed themselves into a BP + Challenge only progression system. It would have been an easy undertaking if 343i had a linear progression played out first as its “Foundation” to build upon.

I do have to disagree on your take on the customization and the shop however. The main issue with the lack of customization in Infinite is that Since H3 customization has been an integral part of the Halo Gameplay experience. Playing > Performing > Unlocking > Showing off has been a component of Halo especially since Halo Reach’s leveling system. Taking this away and locking it behind paywalls was a slap to the face and a kick to the balls for Halo players.

As for the BP and Shop itself I have my own personal reservations about both, but I’ll try to summarize, this is already a lot longer than I hoped…

The BP has 100 tiers which close to half provide only either an XP boos or challenge swap. This in itself is a MASSIVE problem because what 343i was take armor customization form Reach and through into the shop instead of utilizing the very BP they created… The shop prices are also exorbitant. These aren’t MTX, MTX used to be less than a dollar or $2-$3 dollars. Instead they want $7-$20 dollars. Some may be ok for that, but a good majority of players actually value how far your dollar goes.

Being ok with buying this from the shop is one thing on a personal level. Understanding what kind of message your purchase sends to the investors is another. As long as purchases are being made at these increasing prices future games will continue to monetize as much of the game as possible. We can see this with halo infinite right now: The majority of the player base has either bought the Bp for $10 or $50 for the bundle, Halo fans will buy the campaign for another $60… this means that nearly everyone would have spend anywhere between $70+$120 for a fraction of what previous installments had.

Why would a new player want to play this? This isn’t the original trilogy anymore, just mediocrity with a halo coat of paint. The rest of us lifers are just hoping that someone pulls their head out of their behind and listens to the 10 years of feedback that has been deemed “toxic” by people that don’t know any better.

I think it’s funny how much people complained about the Battle Pass progression, but now people are going to have it completed with 5 months to go until season 2. Then people will complain about the problem they created.

worst hot take I’ve ever seen, at least the people complaining and making their voices heard will make the game better. News flash, a million fun video games are out right now and are all competing for my time, if I don’t feel rewarded as I play, I’m going to make the super easy choice and pick 1 of the 10 fun games released just this month…

Lol. Who hurt you man? You do more whining about this topic that anyone does about anything else on this forum. 343 hasn’t incentivized anyone to play the objective. So people naturally won’t play objective. If you don’t like that, wait for 343 to change the system or go play another game

Agreed, the current state of the game is simply inexcusable. 6 years and 500 million dollars and this is all they have to show for it? They should be ashamed, I know I am.

It really is.
I use a similar argument when people say I shouldn’t use violence to protect my material possessions from theft.

Just don’t try to replay one of the missions… That hasn’t been possible since the first game or anything. Maybe the original xbox was just more capable? Or maybe the devs were…

Turd of a take. Not everybody plays the objectives because 343 built a system that incentivizes not doing that. More people play the objective towards the end of the week, when most people have their challenges over with. It’s not the players’ fault. We literally told 343 this system was a bad idea the day it was announced. I sent feedback about it during one of the flights.

Let’s brake this down. Whether you play btb, ranked, or quick play, there are only a handful of objective modes, with slayer mixed in every so often. There are very few maps. This is the least amount of gameplay options since halo CE. The problem here isn’t that people DIDN’T have their fun, play the objective, and ignore their own progression. What happened was people got bored of that really quick, so now, the only way people can get more out of this experience is by grinding the battle pass, and the only way to do that, aside from playing literally 2000 matches, is to play towards weekly challenges.

I don’t think the community owes it to YOU to change how they enjoy playing a game. If you want to play the objective, go play ranked. Otherwise, you just have to deal with the monster of an xp system 343 made.

The OP and like half of this reply thread just reaffirms my belief that the people defending 343 are the real toxic people in the Halo community.

“Spoiled brats”
“Not really part of the Halo community”

I agree that actual whining is unproductive… but you fools act like any form of criticism is crying and honestly it’s cringe.

Lmao uhhhh no. Aren’t your knees sore from shilling for a corporation yet?

You know nothing about your post makes you look cool, edgy or smart right? In fact it does the opposite. You’re now the biggest crybaby here.

Customization has literally always been part of halo. Even in CE except it was limited by the tech at the time. But there has ALWAYS benn customization. Reach expanded that by giving us armor options. So this is nothing new at all. The difference is customization was always free. 343 told us they would be charging for more customization but to trust them. It would be fair and we would have a ton of options. So we gave them money for it to find out the lied. The customization is even more limited than in MCC. And what they gave us is crap. We trusted them. We bought their pass. And the screwed us. That’s a legitimate complaint. You don’t care about having your own Spartan? Fine. But for those of us who bought the pass to find out there’s no meaningful progression and the content mostly sucks? We aren’t going to apologize for complaining about it. And your little whine session isn’t gonna make it stop being an issue. So yeah. I want “meh rewards” because I -Yoink!- paid for them.

So congrats. If your goal was to whine to a bunch of strangers about something that literally doesn’t effect you, and end up being the crybaby you thought you were blasting, you succeeded.

These defenses are honestly embarrasing to witness. “Why not just play the game and not worry about cosmetics?”

I’m sure plenty of people would love to, but “just play the game” is a sentiment that came out of the time when games had actual content to fall back on.

What do you have when you strip away the predatory monetization in Infinite? Nothing. Its a complete empty shell of a game and personally I’m not impressed with the “core” gameplay either.

Not to mention the fact that despite 343’s claims to the contrary, its obvious the way the game is built to funnel players back towards the dopamine farm challenges and limit player’s ability to choose how to “just play the game” on their own, IE the lack of a match composer or even a bloody Slayer playlist. Customs are incredibly limited with a huge number of missing gametypes, Forge is 6months out or more, same goes for Co-Op, and we haven’t heard anything about any sort of PVE mode ala Firefight/Spartan Ops so that is likely even farther out.

Even putting all this aside cosmetics do actually matter to people, corporations wouldn’t be trying so hard to monetize them if they weren’t, and tying cosmetics to predatory monetization is bad no matter how little it may affect you personally.

The leather connoisseurs in this thread are something else. Got to defend the corporation that produced the product I enjoy lest some people harsh my buzz with their complaints.

“Guys stop complaining about things derailing my hype train”

Artificial time gates suck. Faster BP progression is fine, it let’s people play at a casual pace and still get cool stuff.
