Readin this forum has made one thing painfully obvious about the Halo community

People do sound like they are being a bit entitled when they talk about what they want. But we don’t know how old some are or what situations they are in for them to get to that point.

That’s why other people should show a little empathy. After all, the madness is caused by insanity and it usually boils down to a lack of communication.

I rock the default armour but I’m wearing the ‘willow tree’ which I got from a capstone challenge. I haven’t bought the battle pass and I’m not interested in purchasing anything from the shop. I’ve won more than I’ve lost and always concentrate on winning.

However - I bought myself an Xbox Series S and a new monitor to play this game. Especially multiplayer- I’ve never really found the campaigns very interestingly. I thought ODST and Reach had good stories.

But now I have the multiplayer to play on my new screen and console. Yet I only have one playlist to play in ranked… open or solo/duo you can’t count these as two. BTB and quick play. With the same rotating maps and game types.

I’ve been playing two weeks and it’s becoming boring already. When I reach the level when I can’t go any higher. Diamond/Onyx. What will be my motivation?

With the way the challenges and battle pass has been set I can understand that introducing a slayer playlist will break that system. But I just don’t understand why they would implement a decision that’s going to hurt the amount of players in game.

On the flip side, even if rewards weren’t a thing, people just don’t like playing objective modes.

That’s why as early as H2 MP on Xbox Live Gold back in 2004 has something called Optimatch where you picked which playlists or modes you really wanna play. How did Halo devs back then have the foresight of adding this but 343 not having the same foresight?

That’s entirely on 343 to not bother adding in separate playlists, the challenge requiring specific game modes is just a symptom of this lack of foresight.

Do speak for yourself I love CTF and assault , i’m even begining to enjoy stockpile… Nothing satisfies like whacking someone with their own flag…

Didn’t know you were called People.
My bad sir.

I am a ‘people’ I’m not The people.

Objective game types have always been less popular than slayer. However for the first six months of each game that’s been released there has never been any issues matching into objective playlists. That issue comes along when the player base dwindles.

Y’all this game is techincally in multi-player beta-only. Considering that, for free, it is more stable, fun, and yes – the game modes can get old – but the GAME HASN"T EVEN BEEN released.

Compared to, say, Battlefied 2042, I SERIOUSLY do not get the complaining about Infinite. So far, I’ve had a blast every single minute I’ve put into the game. And to be totally honest, I feel bad for the peopole hating on this game. They really are missing out on a joyfol experience (thus far).

It get’s released tomorrow, (The 8th} and 343i has said there will be no new multiplayer content on the release.

I want whatever you’re on.

At this stage ‘beta’ refers to testing technical issues etc. Not a rework of the playlist inventory. The next new play list will be through the second event. Which may come in December or January.

I hope your right… the current game at least in mutliplayer looks pretty boring right now…

To be fair, compared to say, Cyberpunk, Deathloop, or BF2042, the fact that Infinite blows those titles out of the water by actually being playable, stable, fun, and mostly bug free. Those were $60 games, and Cyberpunk wasn’t even playable for me for about 3 months.

I think we can both agree that a beta this polished is something to be proud of in an age where devs love to release games that still have MONTHS of work needing before they’re ready for launch.

No player has an obligation to play how you, another player, wants them to play.

Oh yeah the one playlist that is available is fantastic - it has minor tweaks needed but very fun. Day and night compared to the release of MCC.

But the lack of playlists for season one is dismal.

why are you pretending the game doesn’t have other issues besides progression?

Sadly – and I feel like this goes beyond just Halo Infinite disappointing response to its lack of initial content – I like to put thinigs in perspective by rememberthing we ARE in the middle of a pandemic. I work in branding for a fairly large agency, and even the simplest projects have turned into nightmares – and working remotely is nice, but between that and the tech shortages, what should be easy projects at work the last couple years have suffered horribly from scope creep, miscommunications, supply issues (god I feel bad for our sales team and logistics people). etc.

I’ve worked with some big name clients, too. but i couldn’t IMAGINE being on a team working on a AAA next-gen title – and not just any old AAA title, but freaking HALO – an IP that has changed the entire gaming industry and will remain a household name for decades to come.

Oh, and all this, during a pandemic, at time when no can get GPU’s or consoles, where creative directors, designers, and asset creaters have to collaborate with coders over Zoom. I mean, that must be a MASSIVE undertaking, right?

So, I’m truly perplexed by the amount of negativity towards a free product that, quite frankly, I’ve had more fun playing in beta the past couple weeks than I have since playing… god, I don’t know, Doom Eternal?

Yes, Halo Infinite isn’t perfect (yet), but given the circumstances, I’m too much in awe that 343 has managed to create a game this fantastic despite the odds stacked absurdly high against them. Sure, I could fpoint out plenty of shortcomings or flaws, but can any other dev team out there say they’ve succeeded on a level that Infinite has in 2021? I don’t think so.

But hey, haters are gonna hate, I guess?

My suspicion is that the same criticism would still be rehashed independently on how 343 Industries would design the progression system itself.

It appears more like that the community wants in general more from the same amount price or a lower price compared to what is seen for previous Halo titles.

For me, there doesn’t really exist anything major to complain about the progression system in Halo Infinite other than that the game lacks some long term goals like a global rank which is similar to the system seen in Halo Reach, Halo 4, Halo 5 or MCC and few easy long term commendations.

When it comes to customization specifically, the system isn’t that bad. The only wish on my part would probably be to relable the rarities of the items to reflect if the items are unlocked by default, special events (Watchdog and Platinum Anniversary), none premium, premium battlepass or from the store itself to add some clarity. On the other hand, it doesn’t matter for me in the slightest if they add premium items to the store that can indirectly be purchased for real word money as long as they are transparent with the offers (like they are today). The only complaint I have with the monetization system is that Challenge Swaps, XP Boosts and Battlepass progression can directly be purchased for real world money as these features undermines the progression system seen with the battlespasses but this is just a minor complaint compared to monetizing gameplay affecting features like Warzone in Halo 5 or Blitz in Halo Infinite.

Something else to consider is that the progression system should be designed in a such a way that it doesn’t encourage bad behaviour. If it’s discovered that a system (like challenge) has some unforeseen side effects that negatively affects the game, the system should obviously be adjusted to mitigate these effects.

Seeing that 343 is asking $60 for a single player campaign that isn’t shipping with co-op or forge, and they’ve spun off multiplayer and locked out standard features like playlist selection for the purpose of monetizing features which were previously included with the price of the game, I’d say the reality is exactly the opposite and 343 is asking for people to pay more for less.

Since when is $60 for AAA single player title an unreasonable price? Genuinely curious. No one seems to bat an eye at $70 games like RE Village which are, what, 12 hours long?

Personally, it’s been WAY too long since I’ve played a AAA single-player game, and if I remember correctly, wasn’t Halo on the OG X-box one of the first $60 launch titles? I could be misremembering, but I thought AAA games retailed for $50 before the launch of the first X-Box.

In fact, adjusted for inflation, $60 for Halo Infinite is techincally cheaper than $60 for Halo 1 back when it launched. And you KNOW that came cost less to produce, too. So, I’m honestly perplexed how the $60 campaign price is so upsetting to people.

Where did I say it was an unreasonable price for a fully featured AAA release? You seem to have missed the context of my reply and the comment I was replying to, but you can read it again if you need to.
