i got outrage, its just at the players for being mad at the things that dont matter vs things that absolutely do matter like map veto, playlists, and other basic things i prefer a lot more than “i cant believ this virtual sword on a hip cost me 15 dollars.” its like people think they NEED to purchase microtransactions. and it annoys the hell out of me
In 6 years, we got 3, ODST, and Reach - all full packages, fully fleshed out games.
In 6 years now we get, a half-decent fps that looks and sounds just like Halo, egregious monetization/customization, less than 20% of the content from previous games, false marketing (again), and ignored feedback from the actual beta’s from months ago.
But ayy, the MP is free though
unless of course you want to express yourself or something.
EXACTLY! we got more and better games in equal the amount of time! look, unless the campaign is stellar and blows people away, infinite is gunna be the most disappointing game on release
it really feels like 343 spent those 6 years on marketing and figuring out how to monetize the ever living grunt out of the game, no questions asked. oh! and also figuring out how to make every convenient excuse in the book to justify this nonsense
Still, it’s still a fair criticism. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure some people are just upset because they have to pay anything but it’s still a bad system all around - regardless of the driving reason behind the detest.
Me, for example, even though I really only like playing to win, see the affects the customization/progression has and had.
For instance, to your point, something like map veto would be GREAT. Just like a matchmaking composer, right?
But because the game was designed around this dumpster fire monetization/customization, it affects us too.
TL;DR it doesn’t matter the reason for the outrage at the customization/monetization scheme because it affects ALL of us negatively.
No spoilers but the campaign does seem VERY promising. To me, it’s very clear where Joe Staten and his influence came into play during development.
Of course, that’s subjective but given that H5 had a SH*T story and a decently fun MP (mechanically as there was no content there either AND loot boxes lmao) it’s hilariously ironic that this time around, they again could not find a balance and gave us possibly an amazing campaign and a very lackluster MP.
This is why I lost respect for most communities due to their endless whining. Nowadays, there is one word that best describes it: Entitlement. Yes, we do like our rewards and such, but that doesn’t mean we need to hate 343 for them finally releasing a campaign after 6-7 years that has over-priced cosmetics or whatever; even though the store is COMPLETELY dreadful with it’s bundles and armor cores, etc., in other words, it felt like a lie, but I guarantee that they WILL change it for the better eventually. Just be glad that we’re 1 day away from this game, just be glad about that for a change.
What change is happening in one day?
From what I understand, we’re -21 days away from the game.
Campaigns release has no effect on multiplayer. Joe Staten himself said when they dropped the MP that this was the full launch day multiplayer suite.
Nothing is changing in a day. We can’t even have a dedicated slayer playlist until a couple of months.
Hell, they haven’t even fixed the radar by simply setting it to 25m lmao
I agree, the console players asking to turn crossplay of are a prime example of this
Here’s they thing, If you start being not-selfish and start thinking about your fellow players and the challenges and progression they have to do, the logical conclusion is to play bad. Because there are 4 players you can help on the other team by sandbagging and only 3 on your team. Terrible way to play the game though.
- pre-release statements promised that this is what challenges would encourage, more or less. They obviously don’t.
- But what about muh drip? (Speaking as someone who runs around in more or less default mark VII Cadet Grey, just in case the sarcasm doesn’t ooze out through the pixels)
People do play the objective and their challenges at the same time. After spending the first 5 to 30 seconds after respawning rushing to pick-up the weapon they need to do that, and being no help what so ever during that period.
well if you say so, i guess my big fear about the campaign is the side quests. being redundant, repetitive, and to an extent pointless to do. but i am hopeful it’l be better than 5’s
and yeah, whiles halo 5 did have the same monetization as infinite… at least you could play a few games and be able to get a req pack, garentied to reward you with something for your efforts. play in your own way. unlike infinite, where ya get nothing for doing what you want
Well then lets compare with bungies modern work. The tiger engine went into development in 2008 and got to the point we’re level and art could be worked on in 2012.
That is destiny’s variant of the blam engine. So if you take that timeframe of retrofitting a engine Halo infinite was really only 2 years in development if that. Because I think slipspace uses less original blam code then tiger.
That’s not even counting the pandemic.
okay, well 2 years in dev from a 4 year time spent on the slipspace engine and time away from one another due to the flue. well… let’s look at Halo Reach:
there’s two possibilities… either it took 1 year to make between it and ODST with the full team. OR had half the team working on it between it and 3.
also if you really think about it, time spent on a new engine was kinda pointless… ngl playing infinite just reminded me of Halo 5 and it feels like it as well. so they could’ve just used the already pretty up to date engine that has been continuously updated for decades
I am new to Halo and have just started. I have been doing some MCC, 5 and Infinite. I am finding the challenges on MCC excellent, you can chose between PvP or PvE. I now have a lot of extra gear. On 5, I get a daily login pack and 2 win packs, when you win the round. This comes with RP to buy even more packs. My husband unlocked everything in 5 and didn’t buy a single req pack. Infinite appears to have changed this and it’s hard to deny, a lot of the players aren’t happy.
well… welcome to the halo community. not particularly the best of times, haha
but yeah, MCC and 5, despite the issues of 5, did things leagues better. per match XP for both based on skill and the objectives, going at your own pace. earning the currency and thus req packs in just a few fun games. whiles MCC also has the fair and simple weekly challenges, they feel rewarding without feeling like a chore.
Infinite feels worse than a chore to play and get anywhere in… honestly the backlash i’d say is completely justifiable against infinite
Thank you
Things do seem a little ‘turbulent’
to say the least? yeah, that sums it up very well. chaotic turbulence
“Come in guis 343 is reallllyyy trying! They are doing they’re best!! It’s you the consumer that is at fault not the developer!! They haven’t messed up on a halo game yet!” Congrats on having the dumbest post of the day,
If the Halo community lacks one thing, it’s self-awareness. It must be very off putting for newcomers.

We get it, you voted for PedoBiden. You can leave now. Thanks.
So why do YOU play the game? Why did you take the time to download the game off of the xbox gamepass or Steam if your on PC that’s pretty selfish of you to not download it for all of us so we don’t have to spend our precious time not working, not at school, and so on downloading the game…
