Read Cryptum before watching the terminals

After seeing the Terminal 2 teaser, I became excited. So far the teaser has made references to Cryptum. Hopefully this will continue.
But I highly advise that if anybody wants to fully undestand the Terminals, read Cryptum.

I bought it online the other day. Hopefully getting it soon! Heard it’s a great book.

it is a great book, i only got a hand full of pages left.

Exactly i hope we get more info on the Prisoner. I got really intrigued when the book said that many people committed suicide out of fear over what he said.

I was also wondering could MC be heading to the Capital city seems possible?

I wonder if we will meet Monitor -049 Abject Testiment they gave him a voice as well maybe we meet him in H4 or maybe later on?

im halfway through cryptum. do i haz the green light? i noticed refrences to life workers and such

yes exactly i wonder if they will mention the master builder.

Just finish reading Cryptum. I really like the terminal! Cryptum references!

I thought the same thing after seeing the terminals. I loved Cryptum and can’t wait to see what info all the terminals will give us.

Yeah, same here, maybe it will shed some light on Halo 4, not completely of course, but I think he will be the enemy in H4, but wasn’t he talking about the Flood?

When I heard Spark say words like “Ecumene” and “Domain”, I had to let out a manly squeal of approval. :stuck_out_tongue:

Pretty much this. And “lifeworker”.

HARUMPH!

I dissagree.

You should read cryptum ONLY after all the other books, games, and other merchandise.

Why…?

I have to say that i enjoyed cryptum more than any of the other books it is one hell of a read …

Why? Cryptum itself might as well have been a stand-alone novel if it wasn’t part of a trilogy, it’s completely different to the other novels and you need no prior knowledge on any of the UNSC/Covenant stuff to understand it. I would, however, suggest understanding the Terminals and the Iris Campaign before jumping into Cryptum because it’s all related.

I’ve been a fan of Halo for around four years now and I’m a massive fan of the novels themselves. However, for a number of reasons, involving money, interest in the expanded story and just forgetting about it, I only actually picked up Cryptum last week.

Initially I found it rather slow and difficult to get through (I’m a fast reader and an avid reader, so this wasn’t much of a surprise as I’ve probably read a good twenty or so books that give me this first impression which then turn out to be great books) but it’s now starting to pick up and I’m understanding the terminology and “rules” and the culture of the Forerunners, so I’m enjoying it.

That’s just what I think of the book. On topic, I would largely agree with the statement. I don’t feel it’s necessary, but I’d certainly advise at least reading the Halopedian page for the Forerunner Saga (which I haven’t done yet for fear of spoiling the book) just so you get the gist of things.

Those that care enough to want to understand the terminals will have read Cryptum. Well, at least fully understand.
