I mean, Reach damaged style (medals, armor, y´know, they all look damaged) or Halo 3 babyskin all-clear style?.
In personal i like Reach style a lot more.

Your poll is BROKEN Sir .
I think a little from both as both games had some good and bad points …

Reach’s medals were gritty, which isn’t Halo 4’s style… but neither is the cartoony blandness of Halo 3’s. Ideally the medals will have a slick, advanced, shiny look with detailed lighting.
how about this idea:
maybe it’s a bit broken but here it is:
in the main menu you can customize your top 5 favorite maps.
based on the top5 of each player in a certain game, the game will choose a popular map. and it can be veto’d once just like in halo 3.
solving the ‘i play on the same map everytime’ problem:
(noobs that have never touched this system in the menu have a random list each time they sign in. once you have created your top 5 it wont randomly change by it self)
tell me what you think?!
H3’s visual style was easier on the eyes, in Reach I feel like everything is super bright and too gritty looking. Like when I hop onto any of the Halo trilogy games it just “feels” right I cant explain it but maybe Im just so used to Halo’s visual style.

You mean, like if they were kind of machines?
I´m all for it.
Reach.

Why broken?
Unless this thing puts the post on before you finish the poll, i don´t understand.
And yeah, but i think i preffer Halo Reach ones.
Reach’s graphics were too rough and clunky because they were over-detailed to the point that (I, at least) paid more attention to micro detail than macro detail. Halo has to go back to the grandiose, monumental, vistas that make you feel small and insignificant. Halo needs to go back to those awesome skyboxes that make your jaw drop. And Halo needs to be smooth again. So basically Halo 3.

This.
And that’s something I’d like for the entire game.
I mean:
Halo 3 was too cartoony. Too many bright colors. Too light hearted comments of Marines and Grunts. Too clean in a way.
Halo Reach was a bit too gritty. Granted: I like the retro-sci fi look you get from that (first Mass Effect had that grainy effect as well), but there could and should have been a bit more colors.
Somewhere in the middle would be nice. CEA style for instance.
That goes for medals. But for me, that also goes for the entire game. The concept art has that '70’s sci fi look (compare it to original Star Wars posters for instance), and I hope that gets taking into the game a bit like Reach also had. But add more coloring and you get a better mix between both.
I loved Halo 3’s bright, lighthearted style a lot more than reach’s dark and gritty style.
Was playing ’ Winter Contingency ’ this morning and noticed how Jorge moved when he gets up. It looked like there were two pictures at the same time on screen. Argh! My eyes! But then Halo 3’s lighter art style didn’t show it’s seriousness. I say somewhere inbetween the two.
A mix.
I would prefer Halo 2, were it was still happy and green, and still allowed for dark, or solemn look, or the general feel of the game was dark.
Halo 3 was ridiculously cartoony, and Reach was a little too dark.
It is likely that Halo 4 will have a dark story, which is why I am leaning towards the darker shades, but the art direction should be whatever 343i sees fit.
It must suit the game.
Halo 3.
It was so colurful and overwhelming that i loved looking at it.
Halo Reach’s dark design was dull and unimaginative IMO.
I would like to see the armor combined with damaged and “baby skin”
Keep medals broken.
Kinda futuristic and realistic looking, none of this cartoon-y nonsense from Halo 3. Although Halo 3’s visual style did fit with the story ark in Halo 3, Halo 4 will apparently be taking a darker, more serious tone so I think that should be reflected in the style. Also the Forerunners will be a large part so I think we can expect quite alot of silvery grey, forerunner hieroglyphs and blue lights.
