in the Bungie ViDoc “O Brave New World”, it is stated that after Halo 3 Microsoft wanted TWO more halo titles after Bugie claimed they wanted to go independant. The circumstance was if Bungie was leaving Microsoft would own the franchise and get TWO more Halos out of Bungie:

This kind of goes to show you that Bungie was forced into developing ODST and Reach, maybe thats why many felt that they were not on par with the original trilogy.
Not trying to start a flame war, just sharing my findings.
> I’m completely fine with reach being a forced title, seeing it is a freaking awesome game.
Agreed, I love what they did with Invasion, Forge World, the Filebrowser, Race, the Campaign, the Elite player models, firefight and other aspects of the game that were improved on from Halo 3, or new additions to the Franchise.
For it being a forced title, Halo Reach wasn’t a bad game in the least. The only thing that hurt it was its longevity as a game, or its support. Like we could have used more maps that centered around Invasion or another forge world or two, firefight could have used additional maps as well or implement Limited Firefight and Firefight Versus or Generator Defense.
I really can’t see how people think Halo Reach was the worst Halo. It improved on so much when compared with Halo 4. Halo Reach is like Gears of War 3, and Halo 4 is like Gears of War Judgement. One improves vastly across the board while other does it to a limited extent and takes away some features of it that made the franchise great.
Well, I think that Microsoft wanted Bungie to make Halo 4, 5, and 6, but Bungie instead made ODST and Reach because they didn’t want to rush their baby. If Bungie had it their way, Halo 3 would have been the same except the Chief would have died from the Halo ring. I think Bungie would have left it at 3 like Marathon and we would be playing Destiny now.

Yea, I agree. Bungie would have ended it at three, but Micrsoft obviously wasnt down with this idea.
Gotta agree with you there, Halo Reach is incredibly fun. Multiplayer is fun and balanced, and it promoted multiple styles of play. Another great thing is that it requires skills (I’m not saying that H4 doesn’t, but the main skill seems to be camping in one spot for long periods of time, and you are rewarded for doing it). Firefight is loads of fun. Custom Games is just that, custom. You can change almost every part of a game. Forge is magnificent, Forge World is the bomb. You can build massive maps that had tons of cool features. Campaign is also great, because the environments are spectacular and very different from each other (just to mention a single reason).
