Does anyone know what will happen if a player reaches 152 in H5 after infinite releases? Do you still get the armor coating? Or is the 152 gift only given to players who have the coating before infinite launches? I looked around, and I couldn’t find the answer to this question. Curious if anyone knows. I’m 132 right now and I’m not gonna make it to 152 before the launch, but maybe I could make it there like a year after infinite launches.

I think the general consensus was that you would still be eligble.
It won’t take long to find out… there will surely be someone who clicks over just after launch.
As for being 132. You are just over 10% of the way there. It’s going to be a long journey as it will be hard to get Halo 5 games after Infinite releases (or even when it starts flighting). Especially as there are no current plans for the MCC.
Yeah that makes sense. I’m hoping I’ll still be able to find firefight matches after infinite releases. Thanks for the reply!

You’ll find matches, but will you find the willpower?
Lol I hope I can find the will power. The desire to play infinite after it releases might be too strong tho haha
I would hope you can still earn the skin after infinite launches. I get the feeling a lot of the cosmetic bonuses will function similarly to how it was in halo 5 with some of the promotional items. Buy this controller to earn this visor before everyone else, but to the people that don’t they still can unlock it later in the game. If their cosmetics arent handled like this especially after the poorly done monster promotion I will be disappointed
I think if the cosmetic is cool enough then it would have people still playing H5. The real question is will 343 keep the servers running smoothly. A while back I tried original halo 4 and it would boot me offline so I have a feeling halo 5 might do the same eventually. It only makes sense with H4 because now it’s in the mcc collection but if you are a fan of H5 then I hope they keep it running long enough to get that 152. Hopefully before infinite they give players a way easier chance to max rank. I think that would be good for H5’s player base before infinite. If people knew they could max rank in a reasonable time I guarantee people might even buy the game just to get the cosmetics for infinite. Unless they want the cosmetics to be seen rarely in infinite…then I can understand that also.

I would agree that in the absence of conclusive evidence the general consensus assumption is that anyone hitting SR152 would become eligible even after launch, however I’ve seen a lot of people stating this as though it’s almost a fact and honestly I am not convinced. When Bonnie Ross originally mentioned the ‘token’ the word ‘before’ release was definitely there. If the aim is to reward Halo 5’s most engaged players, there is an argument for putting a time limit in place - especially if you’re left with up to 5% of a potential population still grinding an older game instead of playing the new one. It’s entirely possible this will be a manual process to award it - in which case even if it does remain available you may be waiting weeks or even a month until the next manual add happens if you earn it after Infinite’s release.
Until we hear otherwise, I’d assume the worst and work on the basis that there’ll be a cut-off: whether that’s release or some time in 2022 to allow a bit of leeway.
At SR132 you have about 45m XP to go and probably around 230 days until release if we’re assuming early-mid November that means you pretty much need 200k XP per day from here until launch. To put that in context: a game of Mythic Warzone Firefight with a Legendary XP boost can net you up to 28k XP if the game is successful and you’re a top performer (however neither of the latter two conditions are guaranteed - a round 1 loss will net you only the boost plus a couple of thousand which is only half that and you’ll run out of Legendary Boosts pretty fast). In reality given boost availabilities etc. I’d say that’s minimum 10 games of MWZFF or equivalent XP grinding per day. 10 games of MWZFF will take you between two and three hours per day or 14-21 hours total per week - as much as a part-time job. That’s a truly huge commitment. I only hit SR151 at the start of the month and I’ve still got 12.4m XP to go and I’m aiming to average 100k XP per day between now and the end of July to get there to get it done. It’s pretty soul destroying and without lockdown I’d probably have never had a hope of getting it.

I hope the 152 reward stays exclusive. It would be stupid to release it to everyone
Yeah I realize I have no hope of hitting 152 before infinite releases. I think it would be feasible for me to hit it a year or two after infinite releases but at that point it might not be worth it. I appreciate the dialogue on this post!

I don’t think anyone mentioned releasing to everyone and I am not saying to release it to everyone. 343 liked to sell “exclusive” cosmetics then allow people to earn them through playing the game, or like helioskrill since you could still earn it after halo 5 launched.

Yea so long you put in the work why care about the time frame it was completed in? it just seems like a move to exclude younger ages or individuals who just happened to be busy with life at the wrong moment.

I dont care about the time frame and I agree you should be able to get it after infinite launches as well. I just don’t want to see the rewards given out as an easier challenge in the futurre
I definitely agree with the above. They shouldn’t make it any easier to get, but they also shouldn’t block people who put the time in after launch
