I own every halo game released and although happier with some versions more than others I have enjoyed them all except reach. The game play changed so much it seemed Reach would have been a better title than Halo reach b/c it reminded me nothing of Halo apart from the aesthetic.(IMO)
The uestion i am getting to is…for those who have played both…which of the games in the series does the game(Halo 4) most resemble mechanics wise? And did you or did you not like Reach? I know you all enjoyed your time with the game , but does it really feel like Halo or more like Reach?
I guess it really is three or four questions but there it is. Thank you for your time.
I haven’t played Halo 4, but the reason I don’t like Reach as much isn’t because of change, it’s because nothing is balanced properly and there’s too much luck involved in everything you do.
I havn’t really played Halo 4 yet, but I have made my opinion based on the information I have, and the opinions of those who have played it. So, I will still answer your questions accordingly.
I think the mechanics of jump height, player speed, and strafing seem to resemble that of Halo 3, while the sprinting, and reticle bloom is reseblent to that of Reach (albeit a modified and improved version). So a good mix of both.
I enjoyed Reach despite it’s flaws because I diddn’t really like matchmaking (because I think matchmaking it too limited for gametypes) so I diddn’t get to have too many problems with certain armor abillities aside form Armor Lock (hated that abillity since day one),and think a custom games browser would be better. For those who call me a scrub, you can play customs competitively and socially, you know that right?
According to my opinion and those of the people who have gotten a feel for the game already, I would say it feels more like Halo with a bit of Reach things added to it. As I said, I liked Reach, but it, by far, isn’t the best Halo game. Halo 4 seems to be like Reach in a sense that it is becoming what Reach should’ve been but wasn’t. It feels like Halo while adding some new and innovative stuff into it that was never seen in the franchise before.
Sup man. I played Halo 4 at RTX in Austin. And I can assure you…
The game is nothing like Halo: Reach. I liked Reach, but it did not FEEL nor create another widespread cultural era of Halo like previous titles did. This was all due to the somewhat broken mechanics, movement/aim acceleration speeds, and many other factors.
In Halo 4, the game is fresh, new, and crisp. Strafing has made a glorious return and you can laugh at a juggernauts face as you destroy him making him miss shots strafing left and right. Most players forgot you could sprint just because base movement speed was so quick and effective moving left to right. The only thing that resembles Reach is the awesome -Yoink- netcode Reach has. Imagine this netcode on a new Hitscan Battle Rifle.
Yea… It feels awesome. It blows your mind when you play the game.
Aim acceleration feel twitchy, very responsive and not slow to your turning of the analog stick. It feels much like COD twitchy aiming movement witch feels great in a Halo game. It doesn’t surprise me they nailed this perfectly since some COD developers are working on H4 as well. So far 343i have done an amazing job with the game and ensuring that HALO FEEL will make it’s triumphant return.
This game is HALO. It FEELS like HALO. It OOZES HALO. What happened with Reach, will not happen with this game.
I love Reach, the MP is by far my most favourite of all the Halos. Each of them had things irritated me, none were perfect and reach has its fair share (and then a couple more) but…
It’s still my favourite, and I look forward to seeing Halo 4 continue the trend that I’ve experienced… in that, each has surpassed it’s predecessor.
Although I agree with you , Darkone , mostly , Reach had a problem with its execution that really turned me off. I gave it a fair shot trying to enjoy it, but something just felt off. Now i know it is a multitude of things…would explain why I couldn’t single out something.
Thank you , Given , for the opinion. Trying to decide if I want to put down 500$ for the console and LE. I think I have decided but it’s still good to do the research(as it were).
> > Really. I clearly stated the question is for those who have played both.

> Then go somewhere else. Not many people have played halo 4. Maybe go somewhere your thoughts are respected. Good luck.
Didn’t ask for respect, just a little civility and common courtesy. More respect for themselves than anything else.
